    Abstract: A bill handling apparatus of the recycle type having a bill receiving system and a bill disbursing system. The bill receiving system includes a bill insertion opening, a bill discriminating unit, a unit for arranging bills so that the front and back sides of the bills face in the same direction and for accumulating the bills, and bill-receiving boxes for receiving bills according to denomination. The bills to be deposited are fed from the bill insertion opening, via the discriminating unit, to the bill arranging and pooling unit and, thereafter, via the discriminating unit, to the bill receiving boxes. The bill disbursing system is constructed so that the bills received in the bill receiving boxes are fed, via the discriminating unit, to a bill disbursing opening.

    Abstract: An apparatus for handling bills which includes a plurality of bill boxes each of which contains different denominations of bills, a circuit for withdrawing bills one by one from each bill box and a bill pool for temporarily storing the bills fed from the bill boxes. A circuit for discharging the bills stored in the bill pool through a discharge portion, is provided. A circuit for reading a memory medium introduced into the apparatus by a user, a circuit for inputting a desired amount to be withdrawn, a circuit for rejecting discharge of the bills placed in the bill pool and guiding them to a rejected bill receiving portion within the apparatus and, a circuit for issuing a receipt, are also provided. The bill boxes are disposed vertically one above the other, and a common conveyor route is provided for conveying bills from each bill box to the bill pool. The end portion of the uppermost bill box is used as a rejected bill receiving portion.

    Abstract: A bill-discriminating apparatus which is used, for example, in an automatic deposit machine and which discriminates a bill by comparing patterns read from the bill with standard patterns. The apparatus includes a circuit for reading patterns from a conveyed bill, one or more sensors for determining the conveyance condition of the bill, a circuit for generating standard patterns corresponding to the conveyance condition of the bill and/or to the kind of bill, and a circuit for comparing the patterns, read from the bill by the circuit for reading patterns, with the standard patterns, thereby discriminating the truth of falsity of the bill and/or the kind of bill.
