  • Publication number: 20080141038
Abstract: In a digital information recording/reproducing apparatus, information recorded on a hard disk with copy restriction thereof is protected from being copied onto other hard disks by means of a PC, etc., to be produced a large number of illegal copies, i.e., infringing a copyright. The information is recorded onto a hard disk drive through encryption thereof, with using an identification being number unique thereto, when it is recorded onto the hard disk. With this, normal reproduction is prevented, since the drive identification number necessary for decryption is different from, even if it is copied onto the other hard disk. Also, a version information of the hard disc is memorized in an information management circuit. When the information is illegally copied onto the other hard disc, the version information is changes; therefore it does not coincide with the version information memorized in the information management circuit.

  • Publication number: 20060077825
Abstract: To solve the problem inhibiting the copyright protection caused by reason that there are no means for restricting the number of backups to other media, which makes it impossible for a copyright owner to specify the allowable number of backups for the content of “Copy One Generation”, disclosed herein is a digital information recording and reproducing method.

  • Publication number: 20060029373
Abstract: A recording and reproducing apparatus capable of recording and reproducing the signals of both a digital broadcast system and an analog broadcast system is disclosed. By utilizing the existing configuration efficiently, the cost increase due to the system change is minimized. Both the digital broadcast system and the analog broadcast system are connected to a connector to receive both digital and analog broadcast signals. The analog broadcast signal input through the connector is recorded in a digital broadcast signal recording unit of the digital broadcast system under the control of the control unit included in the digital broadcast system.

  • Publication number: 20050089167
Abstract: If content is transmitted/received through a digital signal bus, protection of copyright causes a problem because of no deterioration in quality. Accordingly, authentication is required. The quantity of information to be processed is, however, so large that a long time is required for authentication. Accordingly, both achievement of handling property as in conventional analog connection and protection of copyrighted content without user's awareness become an object. The foregoing object can be achieved by authentication which is executed, for management of copyright, among apparatuses connected to the digital signal bus when the apparatuses are powered on or connected to the digital signal bus or when an input terminal connected to the digital signal bus is selected. The object can be further achieved by an encryption key shared among these apparatuses.

  • Publication number: 20050030866
Abstract: To quickly display catalog information on thumbnails and other data stored on an optical disk, management information or catalog information recorded on the optical disk and identification information and history information on the optical disk are stored on a storage other than the optical disk. If, when the optical disk is inserted, the history information or the identification information read from the optical disk matches the history information or the identification information stored on the storage, the management information or the catalog information stored on the storage that has a higher access speed is read and the information is used immediately.

  • Publication number: 20050025458
Abstract: A digital signal recording apparatus is disclosed, which is capable of protecting the copyright of the analog input information encoded into a first digital signal in a recording medium. A second digital signal encrypted based on the key information and the input analog signal encrypted based on the key information are converted into a second digital signal and encrypted, and the resulting signal is selectively recorded in a recording medium. The digital signal recording apparatus further comprises a circuit for encrypting the digital signal converted from the input analog signal with a key obtained by a predetermined calculation of the key information according to a scheme similar to the second digital signal protection scheme through a digital interface, and a signal recording circuit for recording the key information and the encrypted digital signal in a recording medium.

  • Publication number: 20040268131
Abstract: Before content transmission, the content transmitting device and the content receiving device mutually authenticate each other to verify that the other device respects copyright and rightfully handles content, and then content is encrypted by shared key data and transmitted. It is arranged that in an authentication process, a time from transmission of an authentication request or a time from transmission of an authentication response until arrival of receipt acknowledgement data is measured and only when a measured time is less than a fixed upper-limit value, content is transmitted.
