  • Publication number: 20060285060
Abstract: The invention relates to a liquid crystal display device that is used in display portions of electronics devices and a manufacturing method thereof, and an object is to provide a high quality liquid crystal display device where light is inhibited from leaking and a manufacturing method thereof. The projected structure formed of the first through the fourth columnar spacer receiving patterns, the insulating film and the final protective film is formed on the TFT substrate. The projected structure is buried in the columnar spacer disposed on the opposite substrate. Thereby, even when the liquid crystal display panel is surface pressed, both substrates are hardly displaced.

  • Publication number: 20060285059
Abstract: On a TFT substrate, gate bus lines, data bus lines, picture element electrodes, and the like are formed, and further a first alignment film is formed of polyimide or the like. On an opposing substrate, black matrices, common electrodes, and the like formed; and further column-like spacers are formed at positions facing regions where the gate bus lines and the data bus lines cross. A second alignment film covering the surfaces of the common electrode and the spacers is formed. However, the first and second alignment films are maintained semi-setting. Thereafter, the TFT substrate and the opposing substrate are overlapped, and heated at high temperature under pressure; and the second alignment film on the apexes of the spacers and the first alignment film on the TFT substrate side are joined.

  • Patent number: 7139061
Abstract: In a liquid crystal display device, the pixel electrodes and the projection pattern are formed on the TFT substrate side, and surfaces of the pixel electrodes and the projection pattern are covered with a vertical alignment film. Opposing electrode and a projection pattern are formed on the CF substrate side, and surfaces of the opposing electrode and the projection pattern are covered with a vertical alignment film. The TFT substrate and the CF substrate are arranged such that top end portions of the projection pattern on the CF substrate are brought into contact with the TFT substrate. Liquid crystal having negative dielectric anisotropy is sealed between the TFT and CF substrates. Accordingly, the step of scattering the spacers can be omitted, change in the cell thickness can be prevented, and the good display quality can be achieved.

  • Publication number: 20060114393
Abstract: The generation of residues or flakes of a color filter is suppressed to eliminate conduction failures on an LCD substrate having a color filter on an array substrate. A passivation film formed between a pixel electrode formed in each of a plurality of pixel regions and a TFT for driving the pixel electrode has a multi-layer structure constituted by SiN layers and a SiO layers, and the SiO layer is located at the top of the film. A resin CF layer is formed on the passivation film having such a multi-layer structure. Since the resin CF layer is formed directly on the SiO layer, reduction of the adhesion of the same is suppressed. As a result, the color filter is unlikely to come off when the resin CF layer is formed, and residues of the color filter is unlikely to be generated when a contact hole is formed in the resin CF layer. This suppresses conduction failures and makes it possible to provide a reliable TFT substrate and LCD having high display characteristics.

  • Patent number: 7001714
Abstract: The present invention provides a method of manufacturing a substrate for MVA type or transreflective liquid crystal display device capable of obtaining a substrate for liquid crystal display device having a good display quality while simplifying the production process and a method of manufacturing a liquid crystal display device using same. A positive-working resist is spread over a glass substrate to form a resist layer thereon. The resist layer is exposed to light and developed to form a resist pattern having linear patterns. The linear pattern in the resist pattern is then irradiated with ultraviolet rays. The resist pattern is then subjected to heat treatment at a predetermined temperature to form a structure having a flat portion formed by the melt flow of the linear pattern irradiated with ultraviolet rays and a protrusion formed by the reflow of the linear pattern unirradiated with ultraviolet rays.
