  • Patent number: 6367731
Abstract: A roll paper pulling load-buffering device enables smooth roll paper transportation and minimizes the space required for its installation in the printer. The load-buffering device has an arm 22a that moves a specified angle around the shaft 24 on which the roll paper turns. A roller 23 extends widthwise to the roll paper from the arm 22a at a point offset from the outside diameter of the roll. Paper pulled off the roll is draped around this roller 23. When a transportation roller is driven to advance paper from the roll by pulling from the end of the roll, tension applied to the paper causes the arm 22a to turn in one direction by way of the intervening roller 23. An urging means 25 such as a spring then urges the roller 23 and arm 22a in the opposite direction, maintaining even tension on both sides of the roller 23 and thereby enabling smooth roll paper transportation.

  • Patent number: 6305949
Abstract: A press-fit pin for use with a printed circuit board assembly consisting of two opposed printed circuit boards, the press-fit pin having an upper first press-fit section and a lower second press-fit section. The first press-fit section and the second press-fit section are disposed so that the first press-fit section enters the first through-hole in the first printed circuit board before the second press-fit section enters the second through-hole in the second printed circuit board. As a result, the peaks of the forces required to press the first press-fit section and second press-fit section into place are staggered and do not coincide, resulting in a reduction in peak total force required and thus reducing the danger of bending the press-fit pin during insertion in the printed circuit boards.

  • Patent number: 6276848
Abstract: A thermal printer for a portable electronic device such as a receipt issuing machine is capable of increasing an angle at which thermal recording paper is wound on a platen roller while decreasing running load and without generating static electricity. The thermal printer includes a body frame formed from metal, a thermal head disposed on a bottom part of the body frame for printing paper and a platen roller for urging the paper against the thermal head. A paper guide for guiding the paper to a direction in which the paper is wound on the platen roller is integrally formed with the body frame. A bend-raise portion extending in a paper-width direction of the paper and contacting linearly to the paper while feeding is integrally formed at a part of the paper guide where the paper is inserted. The paper guide is formed in such a manner that it comes close to the platen roller with respect to the bottom of the body frame.

  • Patent number: 6069863
Abstract: An optical pickup includes a diffraction element for causing diffraction in a reflection beam from a disc. This diffraction element is divided into two of first and second regions. On four light receiving elements are converged respectively a first reflection beam from a first region and a second reflection light from a second region. A switch performs switching-over between four output signals individually taken from four light receiving elements and three output signals in total taken out by adding together two output signals of four output signals.

  • Patent number: 5312208
Abstract: A burnishing drill includes a cylindrical shank and a drill body connected to the shank. Drilling edges, first reaming edges and second reaming edges are formed on a first reduced diameter portion, a second reduced-diameter portion and a third reduced-diameter portion respectively located at a foremost end of the drill body. Each of the reaming edges is inclined with respect to the longitudinal axis of the drill at an angle which is set so as to be within a range of between 5.degree. and 30.degree.. During a boring operation using the drill, a hole is drilled by the drilling edges and the drilled hole is then worked by the first reaming edges and the second reaming edges to provide a smooth inner wall in the drilled hole. Since each of the reaming edges is formed to extend radially outward from the foremost end of the drill and incline axially in the rearward direction at a relatively small angle, the centering property can be greatly improved.

  • Patent number: 5282705
Abstract: A burnishing drill includes a cylindrical shank and a drill body connected to the shank. Drilling edges, reaming faces and reaming edges are formed on a first reduced-diameter portion, a second reduced-diameter portion and a third reduced-diameter portion located at a foremost end of the drill body respectively. The reaming faces which are located axially at backward positions of the drilling edges and the reaming edges extend radially outward from the foremost end of the drill and incline axially in the rearward direction, and also extend radially outward and incline in the rearward direction with respect of the rotational direction. Since an inner surface of the hole drilled and reamed by the drilling edges and the reaming edges can be further smoothed by the reaming faces, the surface roughness of the finished hole can be much improved.
