  • Patent number: 5392111
Abstract: An optical axis of a headlight is measured by disposing a lattice member in front of the headlight. The lattice member has a plurality of longitudinally elongated lattice holes which are arranged in a form of a matrix. An illuminated area and an illuminance of light beams to be transmitted through the lattice member are measured at each of illuminating regions which are divided into a form of a matrix by the lattice holes. The position of a light source of the headlight is located from an illuminating region of maximum illuminated area and a position of an optical axis of the headlight is located from an illuminating region of maximum illuminance. The optical axis is adjusted depending on the located position of the light source and the position of the optical axis such that the inclination angle of the optical axis coincides with a set inclination angle. An illuminance distribution pattern is used to judge the type of headlight during adjustment of the optical axis of the headlight.

  • Patent number: 5311289
Abstract: An optical measuring apparatus for use in this method has a projector for radiating a slit light on a workpiece and an image sensing device for picturing an optically cross-sectional image drawn by the slit light radiated on the workpiece. An optical axis of the slit light and an optical axis of the image sensing device cross each other at an oblique angle. Setting windows are set at predetermined positions of the optically cross-sectional image on a screen of the image sensing device. A position of center of gravity of each optically cross-sectional image in each of the windows is measured. An amount of displacement in an X-axis direction of the optically cross-sectional image on the screen is measured. A rate of magnification of the optically cross-sectional image in a Y-axis direction is calculated from the amount of displacement. Setting positions of the windows in the Y-axis direction and sizes thereof in the Y-axis direction are changed depending on the rate of magnification.

  • Patent number: 5203073
Abstract: A method and apparatus for assembling exterior parts of a motorcar wherein assembling accuracy errors of a motor car body are determined by measuring positions of a plurality of reference points of said motorcar body. Correction data is calculated relating to respective assembling positions of plural kinds of the exterior parts which form an external shape of the motorcar, the calculation being performed on the basis of measured data obtained in the previous step, while maintaining a correlative relationship among said parts, to eliminate correlative misalignment among said parts due to the assembling accuracy errors of said motorcar body. Each of said parts is then assembled by respective assembling robots to respective assembling position which has been corrected in accordance with the calculated correction data.
