Abstract: A menu displaying method for displaying a menu containing a plurality of menu items on a display screen comprises a menu item arrangement step of arranging the menu items in a prescribed three-dimensional virtual body to squarely face the display screen so that each menu item will have at least a viewable part that is not screened by other menu items in front of the menu item and a menu item moving step of moving the menu items arranged in the menu item arrangement step according to a prescribed user operation while keeping the menu items squarely facing the display screen. By the menu displaying method, a large number of menu items can be displayed on a screen while minimizing deterioration of viewability of the menu items.

Abstract: A vehicle-mounted device is configured to execute a predetermined function as a foreground process and a TV function as a background process. The vehicle-mounted device is provided with a displaying device. An image corresponding to the predetermined function is displayed on the displaying device when the predetermined function is executed. The device further includes a TV program switching system, a small image generating system that generates a small image when the program switching system is operated to switch the TV programs. The small image is superimposed on the image corresponding to the predetermined function. The device further includes a display control system that displays the small image on the displaying devices such that the small image is superimposed on the image corresponding to the predetermined function, the display control system extinguishing the small image at a predetermined timing.

The method includes the steps of displaying an orbital menu by arranging the plurality of menu items on a looped orbital, first detecting a signal for switching the orbital menu, extracting a menu item located at a predetermined position on the orbital and at least one menu items located around the menu item located at a predetermined position, and displaying an extracted menu by arranging the extracted menu items with retaining correlation among the menu items on the orbital menu.
