Abstract: A network management system that is capable of managing each device in an information processing device efficiently even though on a network there are a plurality of the information processing apparatuses which search for devices to manage. A network management system comprises a multi-function printer (MFP) connected to a network, and a network management station that searches and manages the MFP. The MFP comprises a search source information recording unit that records information related to the network management station, which is a transmitter of a search packet, as search source information in response to receipt of the search packet, and a search source information transmitting unit that transmits the search source information to the network management station in response to request from the network management station.

Abstract: An image processing device comprises a storage unit which has multiple storage regions and stores document data within the storage regions, a security settings unit which performs settings relating to security as to the storage regions, and a specifying unit for specifying document data to be sent externally from the document data stored in storage unit, and determines whether the storage region in which the specified document data specified by the specifying unit is stored is a storage region in which settings relating to security by the security settings unit is set, and decides based on results of such determining whether to permit or prohibit sending of document data.

Abstract: A network device management system which is capable of preventing breakdown in communication between network devices connected to each other even when the IP address of one of the network devices is changed. When a change of the IP address of a multifunction peripheral is requested on a network device management apparatus, the apparatus issues an IP address-configuration changing request to the multifunction peripheral, determines whether or not the IP address has been successfully changed by the multifunction peripheral, acquires IP address information on an expansion computer from the multifunction peripheral, and then using the acquired IP address information on the expansion computer, notifies the expansion computer of the changed IP address of the multifunction peripheral.

Abstract: This invention provides a network device management apparatus and method, which manage one or a plurality of devices connected to a network. A layout data storage unit stores layout map data which indicates locations, identifiers of devices set at different locations, and status of the devices. A device data storage unit stores device data. Icons indicating locations and type of devices are displayed on a display based on the layout map data. When a instruction of generating layout map data is issued, device data corresponding to the locations of the layout map data are extracted from the device data, and the layout map data is updated in correspondence with editing of device data and stored in the layout map data storage unit.

Abstract: An image forming system which is capable of enhancing security in an i-copy function. A server apparatus stores document data once having been printed in association with a sheet identifier recorded on a print sheet on which the document data has been printed. An image reader section reads the sheet identifier from the print sheet when a copy command is issued by the user authenticated based on an entered user identifier by a CPU of a MFP. A printer section reads out and prints the document data from the server apparatus. When the sheet identifier has not been read from the print sheet based on the copy command over a predetermined time period, the document data is inhibited from being printed by the printer section.
