  • Publication number: 20230265249
Abstract: A first process produces poly(glycerol sebacate) urethane (PGSU)-based microparticles. The first process includes forming a first composition including a poly(glycerol sebacate) (PGS) resin and dispersing the first composition in a continuous fluid phase in the presence of an isocyanate crosslinker to produce PGSU-based microparticles. A second process also produces PGSU-based microparticles. The second process includes forming a first composition including a PGS resin, forming a second composition and combining the first composition and the second composition to produce PGSU-based microparticles, where at least one of the first and the second composition includes an isocyanate crosslinker.
    Type: Application

    Publication date: August 24, 2023
Inventors: Manasi Chawathe BAKER, Stephanie REED
  • Publication number: 20220031624
Abstract: A delivery system is described that includes a controlled release device that includes a crosslinked poly(glycerol sebacate) (PGS) or other glycerol ester and a controlled release compound, the controlled release device being provided in a contracted state and being expandable to a three-dimensional expanded state in a target location. The delivery systems provides an expandible, flexible biodegradable elastomer loaded with an active ingredient to allow for extended release for different dosage forms for either human or animal health products in vivo, delivered through the gastrointestinal tract.
    Type: Application
    Filed: July 1, 2021
    Publication date: February 3, 2022
Inventors: Stephanie REED, Alexander M. STAHL, Manasi Chawathe BAKER, Peter D. GABRIELE, Amanda K. WEBER
  • Patent number: 11161940
Abstract: The present invention relates to the unexpected discovery of novel hybrid molecular brush (HMB) polymers and materials that are able to alter their characteristics based on the surrounding solvent properties. In certain embodiments, the HMBs are amphiphilic, comprising a backbone, at least one hydrophilic side-chain, and at least one hydrophobic side-chain. In another aspect, the invention relates to methods of making the HMBs of the invention.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 9, 2019
Date of Patent: November 2, 2021
    Assignee: University of the Sciences
Inventors: Alexander Sidorenko, Sriramakamal Jonnalagadda, Manasi Chawathe
