  • Publication number: 20250076952
Abstract: Technology to intelligently and adaptive share power among charging ports of a multiport power delivery (PD) system is described. In some embodiments, a method includes monitoring power consumption by at least one device of a plurality of devices. Each device of the plurality of devices is connected to a port of a plurality of ports having an allocation of system power. Monitoring the power consumption includes obtaining at least one current measurement of actual current consumption by the at least one device. The method further includes determining whether the at least one current measurement satisfies a threshold condition, and responsive to determining that the at least one current measurement satisfies the threshold condition, causing the system power to be reallocated between each port of the plurality of ports.

  • Patent number: 12124399
Abstract: A USB controller includes: a USB interface that receives an isochronous timestamp packet (ITP) from a host device that includes a current time value from the host device and a delay value associated with each hub through which the ITP passed; controller hardware that initiates a counter, sends a link delay measurement (LDM) link management packet (LMP) request to a nearest upstream hub, stores a first timestamp that corresponds to when the LDM LMP request was sent, receives an LDM LMP response from the nearest upstream hub, and stores a second timestamp that corresponds to when the LDM LMP response was received; and controller software that calculates a link delay between the USB controller and the nearest upstream hub based on the first and second timestamps and delay information included in the LDM LMP response, and adjusts the counter value based on the calculated link delay.

  • Patent number: 11907034
Abstract: A method of power management for a hub having a plurality of Universal Serial Bus (USB)-C ports includes: allocating a guaranteed power budget to each USB-C port of the hub, wherein one of the USB-C ports has a higher power priority and the other USB-C ports have a lower power priority; reducing the guaranteed power budget allocated to a USB-C port with the lower power priority if measured power for that USB-C port is below its currently guaranteed power budget by a predetermined amount; and offering additional power budget to the USB-C port with the higher power priority if the guaranteed power budget allocated to a USB-C port with the lower power priority was previously reduced. Corresponding USB-Power Delivery (PD) integrated circuit (IC) controllers and hubs are also described.
