  • Publication number: 20030002069
Abstract: An operating system provides an interface that allows the user to assign printers for use when a print job having one or more specific attributes has been submitted. The one or more specific attributes of a print job may include the identity of the application generating the print job, the file type being printed, one or more features of the print job, the presence or absence of color, the page size, the number of pages, the draft quality specified, the paper stock selected, and combinations thereof. The attributes of the print job are identified by the operating system after receiving the print job, and the print jobs are directed to the appropriate printer by looking up the identified attributes in the user-customized printer assignments.

  • Publication number: 20020184550
Abstract: Reduced GMII with internal timing compensation A data interface between first and second integrated circuits. An internal clock signal is generated internal to the first integrated circuit and operates in a first frequency. A data generator is provided for generating data from at least one edge of the internal clock for transmission to the second integrated circuit. a first delay block internal to the first integrated circuit delays the internal clock for a predetermined duration of time less than one-half clock cycle of said internal clock to provide a first delayed clock. The second integrated circuit is then operable to receive the transmitted first delayed clock and utilize the transmitted first delayed clock to sample the received data generated by the data generator.

  • Publication number: 20020158836
Abstract: Apparatus for converting a visual image into a tactile image. The apparatus comprises imaging means for converting incident light from the visual image into electrical signals that are proportional to the gray scale intensity of the incident light. The apparatus also comprises a tactile display device having a two-dimensional array of variable height pixels, wherein the height of each pixel in the tactile display is dynamically variable in proportion to the electrical signals from the imaging means. Preferably, the height of each pixel is inversely proportional to the gray scale intensity of the incident light so that the maximum height of a pixel occurs when a corresponding pixel in the visual image is black.

  • Patent number: 6449086
Abstract: The reflectivity of multilayered EUV mirrors tuned for 11-16 nm, for which the two-component Mo/Be and Mo/Si multilayered systems are commonly used, is enhanced by incorporating additional elements and their compounds mainly from period 5 of the periodic table. In addition, the reflectivity performance of the multilayer stacks is further enhanced by a numerical global optimization procedure by which the layer thicknesses are varied for optimum performance in, contradistinction to the constant layer thickness—i.e. constant partition ration—multilayer stacks commonly designed and fabricated hitherto. By incorporating additional materials with differing complex refractive indices in various regions of the stack, or by wholly replacing one of the components (typically Mo), peak reflectivity enhancements of up to 5% for a single reflector are achieved, compared to a standard unoptimized stack. The additional materials used are: Rb, RbCl, Sr, Y, Zr, Ru, Rh, Tc, Pd, Nb and Be.

  • Publication number: 20020076033
Abstract: An intelligent telephone notification system and method are disclosed wherein the notification means is programmable to be responsive to ambient conditions. For instance, the ringer tone and volume may be selected from a menu related to anticipated ambient conditions. Thus, the ringer volume may be set to automatically adjust in volume according to the ambient noise level. In one embodiment, the ringer volume may be set to be a selected number of decibels above the ambient noise. The ambient conditions such as ambient noise may preferably be sampled using the built-in telephone microphone and connections thereto to avoid the cost of additional sensors and sensor interfacing. The ambient conditions may be sampled in response to an incoming message such as an incoming telephone call or the ambient conditions may be sampled at regular intervals.

  • Publication number: 20020004853
Abstract: An interface device, for use in a data management system, interfaces between a plurality of application programs, each requiring a device dependent message to run a transaction, and a client device capable of requesting a transaction to be run. The interface device receives device independent messages, from a client device, each containing a keyword, and translates these into device dependent messages which are sent to application programs. The device dependent message returned from the application program is translated by the interface into a device independent message before being sent to the client device.

  • Patent number: 6111529
Abstract: A technique for performing gain calibration on an analog-to-digital converter (ADC) in which offset errors are canceled during gain calibration. In an ADC having a differential integrator at the input of a modulator, two calibration measurements are obtained at the output, one based on a calibration input and the second based on the reversal of the input polarity. The two measured outputs are subtracted from each other so that offset errors introduced by the converter during gain calibration are cancelled.

  • Patent number: 6091349
Abstract: A technique for separating an operation of a digital stage into separate noise generation periods in order to time the generation of noise from the digital stage. The invention is utilized in a mixed-signal integrated circuit having analog and digital signals in which the timing of the noise generation ensures that noise is abated during an analog sampling event.
