  • Patent number: 7515607
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and network element for providing linkset-related SS7 network functions based on M3UA messages. In particular the present invention provides a method and a signaling gateway (108) for implementing screening based on M3UA messages by mapping M3UA connections to pseudo linksets (116) to which linkset-related rules can then be applied.

  • Patent number: 7257215
Abstract: A service indicator SI field is used for load sharing in SS7 networks, in addition to the service link selection SLS field. If there are only two links or connections between two points of the SS7 network, load sharing can also be performed on the basis of the SI field only.

  • Publication number: 20060203987
Abstract: The invention relates to message handling in SS7 communications networks. An inventive network arrangement comprises at least two SS7 network elements having a common first and individual second signaling point codes. A third network element also has the common signaling point code. At least one SS7 link set is provided between the at least two SS7 network elements. SS7 link sets between the at least two SS7 network elements and the third network element terminate at the individual second point codes, whereas SS7 links between the at least two SS7 network elements and other SS7 network elements having signaling point codes different from the common signaling point code terminate at the common point code in each of the at least two SS7 network elements.

  • Publication number: 20060078007
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and a network element for distributing SS7 traffic to a destination in an SS7 network over a plurality of links, wherein the distribution is handled on the basis of link selection parameters that are derived from message fields of the SS7 traffic, and wherein a link is uniquely assigned to each link selection parameter value. The method is characterized in that during the operation of the SS7 network one traffic volume per link selection parameter value is monitored, and the link selection parameter values are reassigned to the links on a time- or event-driven basis subject to the proviso that the ratio of transported traffic volume to connection capacity is as far as possible the same for all links, with a transfer procedure similar or identical to the change back procedure being used for links with reassigned link selection parameter values in order to avoid messages overtaking one another.

  • Publication number: 20050237944
Abstract: The invention relates to a method used in a packet-based telecommunications network that is designed in particular for network nodes that act as signalling transfer points. Said method is used to distribute information concerning the network topology. The network nodes contain information concerning distances between the network nodes and potential target network nodes for future message transmissions. The information can be distributed within the framework of registration requests, for example by means of the M3UA protocol. Said information can be used in the network nodes for establishing a routing database.

  • Publication number: 20050163113
Abstract: The invention relates to a network node and to a method for adding a network node or an exchange in a communication network which may have the same signaling point code as another exchange in the communication network. Two internal local networks are established in an exchange of the telecommunication network and one signaling link is established from the second internal logical network to another exchange of the telecommunication network, via which all signaling of the other exchange is carried out. The invention is further characterized in that both exchanges use the same signaling point code.

  • Publication number: 20050021768
Abstract: Disclosed is a method for interfacing networks based on different protocols via a translator listing. The gateway of a first network is provided with an application comprising several processes, each of which scans the status information of a second network. In order to substantially reduce the time required to establish a connection and relieve the network, the status information scanned by one process is transferred to a common storage area which is accessible to all processes belonging to the same application and is located on the first gateway.

  • Publication number: 20040246943
Abstract: The present invention relates to an arrangement and a method for connecting several link sets to a switching center in a telecommunication network. According to said invention, messages are transmitted and received with different destination and originating point codes in several link sets. The destination point codes of the received messages are converted into the destination point code of the switching center and the originating point code of the messages, which are transmitted by said switching center, by means of a table, which contains originating point codes corresponding to the destination point codes of the messages transmitted by the switching center.
