  • Patent number: 5322262
Abstract: A gate valve has a housing for a valve seat, and an attachment which extends outwardly from the housing and constitutes an extension thereof. A cap is secured to the attachment at the end of the latter remote from the housing, and a plate which traverses the attachment is held between the cap and the attachment. An externally threaded, non-rotary valve stem extends between the cap and the housing and passes through the plate. The valve stem meshes with an internally threaded, rotatable sleeve which receives the valve stem and is connected to a handwheel. The sleeve is at least partially confined by the cap and the plate, and both the cap and the plate are provided with bearing locations for the sleeve.

  • Patent number: 5217205
Abstract: A valve has a housing, and a partition in the housing which is inclined to the transverse and longitudinal axes of the housing. The partition, which is welded to the housing, consists of a plate having an opening formed by bending portions of the plate out of the plane of the latter. The bent portions are inclined to such plane and include surfaces which bound the opening. These surfaces extend conically and define a valve seat.

  • Patent number: 5188339
Abstract: A valve has a valve seat, and a housing which accommodates the seat. The housing is formed from two sheet metal shells each of which has two sections. A first section of each shell defines a conical frustum, and the larger-diameter end of each frustum is bevelled. The second section of each shell is cylindrical and is seamlessly connected to the bevelled end of the respective first section so that the first and second sections of each shell are inclined relative to one another. The second sections have respective plane end faces which confront one another and are located in planes intersecting both the transverse and longitudinal axes of the valve. A circumferentially complete weld seam bonds the end faces to each other.

  • Patent number: 5178365
Abstract: A gate valve has a housing, a valving element in the housing, and a seat in the housing which cooperates with the valving element and extends transverse to the flow direction. The valving element is carried by a spindle which serves to move the valving element into and out of engagement with the seat. A support for the spindle is disposed in the housing and has a central, outwardly directed flange which defines a passage for the spindle. The flange is coupled to the spindle in the region of the valving element so that the support moves with the spindle. The support is in sliding engagement with the internal surface of the housing to thus guide the spindle and support the latter against transverse forces generated by flow through the housing.

  • Patent number: 5161780
Abstract: A gate valve has a housing which accommodates a valve seat as well as a valving element designed to cooperate with the valve seat. The valving element is mounted on a stem which extends through a cover of the housing and functions to move the valving element into and out of engagement with the seat. A sealing unit for the stem is located adjacent the cover and includes a deep drawn, sheet metal carrier which is mounted on the housing and has a central socket. The stem passes through the socket, and the sealing unit further includes one or more sleeve-like seals which are disposed in the socket and surround the stem. The carrier has a flange which extends outwards from the socket to the housing wall. A corrugation is formed in the flange and abuts the housing wall to thereby center the carrier.
