  • Publication number: 20150110580
Abstract: A device for forming book blocks is disclosed. The device includes a first conveying device which accepts signatures printed in a printing press located upstream. The device further includes at least one signature switch assigned to the first conveying device, multiple second conveying devices, and multiple book block formers, where each second conveying device is assigned a book block former and where each book block former can be supplied with signatures belonging to the same book block dependent on a position of the or each signature switch. The device further includes multiple placers, where each book block former is assigned a placer which accepts the book blocks formed in the respective book block former, and a third conveying device, onto which the book blocks can be placed with the help of the placers and which feeds the book blocks to a delivery device.

  • Patent number: 4754701
Abstract: To permit separating a flexograph ink trough, and flexograph ductor or trough roller into axial zones for respectively differently colored inks, a separating plate is located beneath the doctor blade which has a sealing element (7) attached thereto, resiliently engaging the underside of two doctor blades (2, 3), facing the ductor or trough roller (1) from different directions to permit operation of the ductor or trough roller (1) in either direction of rotation. A low-friction surface is applied to the edge which faces the ductor or trough roller, the sealing element spanning the space between the doctor blades and being matched to the circumference of the ductor or trough roller. The doctor blades extend axially beyond the sealing elements. The separating plates and sealing elements can be mounted on units which are axially positionable along an ink trough, and hence the ductor or trough roller, at selected positions, as required by the axial extent of differently colored inking zones.

  • Patent number: 4492328
Abstract: To provide for a tight seal upon selectively closing air exit openings from a compressed air-supplied tubular turning bar, a preferably endless tape or ribbon is moved within the bar, the ribbon having a slit of about half its length, for selectively positioning a solid portion or the slit opposite the air exit openings. The tape or ribbon can be positioned by a follower to which it is clamped, located on a rotatable spindle; or coupled to externally positionable deflection rollers. The excess air pressure within the interior of the tube seals the tape against the portions of the inner wall of the tube in the regions where the slit is absent.
