  • Patent number: 8346835
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and filter structure for filtering an input signal, which is applied to an input (1) of the filter structure, having a symbol rate. The input signal is guided to multiple parallel branches of the filter structure connected to the input (1), in which at least two sequence holding members (4) are each disposed. Symbol values of the input signal, which are applied to the outputs of the sequence holding members (4) at certain points are guided to multiple (N) parallel signal addition units (3) having weighted inputs. One output signal each is generated in the signal addition units (3) as the sum of the weighted symbol values that are applied to the inputs. According to the invention, space and energy saving filter structure is provided, wherein: the same amount of sequence holding members (4.1, 4.2, 4.3) is disposed in each of the parallel branches; as many signal addition units (3.1, 3.2, 3.3, 3.

  • Patent number: 7710336
Abstract: A metamaterial having a negative refractive index is presented, which has a dielectric carrier material (12; 48), first electrically conductive sections (14.1, 14.2, 14.3, 14.4) and second electrically conductive sections (16.1, 16.2). The metamaterial is distinguished by the fact that the dielectric carrier material (12; 48) is realized as a volume which consists of one piece and which has at least one inner area which is prestructured by positive or negative rib or mesa structures (52.1, 52.2) in the dielectric carrier material (48) and is covered with first sections (14.1, 14.2, 14.3, 14.4) and second sections (16.1, 16.2) in such a way that the first sections form capacitive series impedances upon illumination with an electromagnetic wave having a specific propagation direction and polarization, while the second sections are arranged in such a way that they form inductive shunt impedances upon the illumination.

  • Patent number: 7646320
Abstract: A first data path is coupled between a data input and a data output of a circuit. A second data path is coupled between the data input and the data output. The first data path includes a parallelization circuit coupled to the data input to receive a serial data signal and configured to generate a parallelized data signal from the serial data signal, a first sampling circuit coupled to the parallelization circuit and configured to sample the parallelized data signal, and a serialization circuit coupled to the first sampling circuit and configured to serialize the sampled parallelized data signal. The second data path includes a second sampling circuit coupled to the data input and configured to sample the serial data signal. A selection circuit is configured to select between the first data path and the second data path.

  • Patent number: 7551036
Abstract: An H.F. power amplifier is disclosed having a plurality of branches (10, 11, 12) switched in parallel. Each branch comprises a plurality of amplifier elements (T1, T4) switched in series. Resistors (R2, R5) enable the voltage (U_DS) applied to the amplifier elements (T1, T4) to be set at a fraction of a supply voltage (Ud) applied to the branches (10, 11, 12). Capacitors (C2, C4) are used to adjust the source impedance of the amplifier elements (T2, T4). In order to prevent the gate-drain voltage (U_GD) from exceeding the breakdown voltage of an amplifier element (T1, T4) and damaging the amplifier element (T1, T4), a limiting path (7) is connected according to the invention between the gate terminal (G) and the drain terminal (D) of the amplifier element (T1, T4), the limiting path (7) being switchable between a conducting state and a blocking state depending on the gate-drain voltage (U_GD).

  • Publication number: 20030231279
Abstract: An inclusion of the liquid crystal in the direct vicinity of the core of an optical waveguide structured on a substrate allows to build a tunable optical device. The liquid crystal will be confined by replacing cladding material of that integrated structure. The tuning of the property of that liquid crystal i.e. its refractive index will influence directly the mode index of the core. This influence can be of such amount to allow to control the flow of optical signals transmitted through it. The tuning is advantageously achieved by applying some electric field via electrode on a segment of that core confined with liquid crystals.

  • Patent number: 5703912
Abstract: A circuit for clock recovery from an input signal, particularly an alternating input signal formed from a data signal, the invention calling for a filter/amplifier unit made up of several series-connected resonance ampliers to be formed in a regenerative frequency filter. Unlike series-connected resonance amplifiers without feedback, the filter/amplifier unit has an overall Q-factor in the feedback loop which increases essentially linearly with the number of resonance amplifiers and their Q-factor. This enables the required high overall Q-factor to be obtained for the clock-recovery circuit with a relatively low number of resonance amplifiers with a Q-factor which is low compared with the overall Q-factor. A slope detector, a frequency mixer and the resonance amplifiers have similar assemblies so that the circuit can be designed more simply as a solid-state integrated circuit.
