    Abstract: A large-scale coking reactor including a housing provided with a chamber and with outer and inner chamber frames, a displaceable outer door elastically compressed against the outer frame and formed with a respective elastic peripheral seal compressible against the frame and with an outer high temperature membrane interposed between the door and the seal and elastically pressed thereagainst to seal the door opening, a displaceable inner door spaced from the outer door and formed with an inner high temperature membrane interposed between the inner door and the inner frame to fit elastically the inner frame, the inner and outer doors being releasably interconnected upon displacing the outer door, so that the doors are mounted in the housing to be operatable either selectively or in combination with one another.

    Abstract: According to the invention the heating system for regenerative coke oven batteries that can be heated with rich gas and/or lean gas or mixed gas is provided comprising vertical flues cooperating in pairs, each vertical flue being connected to a regenerator for preheating the air and, in the case of lean gas operation, for preheating the lean gas or mixed gas. High and low combustion stages, as well as structure defining an internal flue gas return at levels above a flue base are provided. Discharge openings are provided at at least three levels for supplying each flue. A base discharge opening is provided at the flue base directly connected to regenerators. Hollow communicating channels are defined for connecting the regenerators to discharge openings located above the flue base. The hollow communicating channels are preferably formed in each communicating wall connected to a discharge opening leading only to one adjacent flue.

    Abstract: Coking system, wherein the coking blends particularly based on hard coal, are fed batchwise to a reactor (1), which is heated indirectly by heat recovery in regenerators (I, II) or recuperators, whereby the reactor is built as a high-capacity coking reactor (100), several high-capacity coking reactors are combined to form a reactor block and the high-capacity coking reactors are built as mutually independent modules, whereby each module can be operated or optionally replaced independently of the neighboring modules, with little or no impairment of the operation of the neighboring modules. The individual reactors are independently operatable in terms of statics and heat supply. The regenerators, or recuperators (I, II, R, R') can be arranged laterally or underneath the reactor chamber. Neighboring reactors can have a common intermediate wall (2). The reactor chambers have a width of at least 0.7 m, a height of at least 8.5 m and a length of at least 18 m.

    Abstract: The amount of flexure of a heating wall of a coke oven is determined during operation of the coke oven by providing an observation hole through the oven roof into a heating flue, the observation hole having an axis. On at least one of the binder walls defining the heating flue is formed a vertical measuring strip extending throughout substantially the entire height of the binder wall at a position to be visible through the observation hole. The measuring strip defines, prior to heating during operation of the coke oven, a rectilinear reference line extending parallel to and spaced from the axis of the observation hole. Upon operation of the coke oven, during which time the heating wall is heated and flexes, the degree of such flexure is determined by measuring through the observation hole the extent of deviation of the measuring strip from the reference line.

    Abstract: An apparatus for transferring between chambers of a coke oven charging gases which develop during the charging of the chambers, while preventing the escape of the gases to the surrounding environment, includes first and second covers mounted for movement between first positions closing charging openings through an oven roof and second positions uncovering such openings. Ducts surround the peripheries of the first and second openings, such ducts being filled with a displaceable sealing medium. First and second housings form respective first and second compartments enclosing the first and second covers, respectively, at all positions thereof. The first and second covers have apron members extending into the displaceable sealing medium in the respective ducts when the covers are in the first positions thereof. The housings have at lower portions thereof seals for sealing the compartments from the exterior.

The cooled condensate-water mixture is suitable for reuse as the condensation spray water.

The outer sealing strip forms a gas-tight nonflexible seal.

    Abstract: A coke oven hopper truck is movable along a coke oven cover which has therein filling holes closed by removable filling covers. The hopper truck has supported thereon a lifting device including an electromagnet which lifts and lowers the filling covers from and into the filling holes so that the filling covers may be removed from the filling holes, whereby coal may be charged through the filling holes into the coke oven chamber. The movable hopper truck has supported thereon repositories for supporting the filling covers after they have been removed from the filling holes by the lifting device. The repositories are movable with the hopper truck along the coke oven cover. The repositories have therein recesses dimensioned to receive therein the filling covers. Cleaning tools such as scrapers or brushes are provided along the edges of the recesses, and the lifting device rotates the filling covers against the cleaning tools to thereby clean the filling covers.

    Abstract: A valve chamber which communicates through flue openings with bottom flues has therein a pair of dosing frames, each mounted on a pivot and movable thereby between a closed position against the openings and an open position withdrawn from the openings. Each pivot is attached to one end of an elongated eccentric member to the other end of which is attached a spring which urges the respective dosing frame to the closed or open position thereof. One or two pull rods are attached to the eccentrics to sequentially move the closed dosing frame away from the openings to the open position thereof, and to then move the open dosing frame to the openings to the closed position thereof.
