  • Patent number: 7304260
Abstract: The present invention relates to a system and method for automatically transporting receiving containers for sorted products. The containers are filled with the sorted products along a sorting stretch at individual, similar target stations, and automatically transported by means of a transport device after being filled. A full receiving container for sorted products is thus lowered, after a transport command has been triggered, by means of a transport device beneath a target station. The container is then placed on the transport device, if the device is not already occupied by a receiving container. The receiving container is then transported away from the target station by means of the transport device.

  • Publication number: 20050200074
Abstract: The invention proposes to turn rectangular mail items of differing thicknesses and sizes and containing different page ratios through 90°. To achieve this, the mail items are conveyed away in at least one direction at right angles to the feeding direction by eccentric rollers. In order to pick up the mailing items without damaging the latter, the eccentric rollers are configured from an elastic material and include segments arranged in a non-radial manner.

  • Publication number: 20030183482
Abstract: The present invention relates to a sorting unit having tipable troughs that are selectively tipable by a combination of levers and cams running within predefined tracks. The tipping action can be selectively controlled so as to accommodate items within the troughs of varying weights, coefficient of frictions and the like.

  • Publication number: 20030059286
Abstract: A system and method are set out for the sorting of articles wherein at least one conveyor belt is used to convey and article to a storage unit. The storage unit comprises a plurality of vertically displaceable storage units having compartments. The compartments are defined by walls which extend at a non-perpendicular angle to the vertically displaceable storage units. The walls of the compartments are adjustable to adjust the space defined by the compartment. The vertically displaceable storage units are individually vertically displaceable so as to receive an article from one direction and make other articles available for removal from a second direction. The storage unit is appropriately rotatable about a central axis.

  • Patent number: 6431369
Abstract: A device for sorting and selectively collecting flat products, such as shipping pouches, printed products or workpieces, which are placed at predetermined collecting points along the conveying path of an endless conveyor and below the conveyor in collecting containers, includes a pushing device for moving the empty collecting containers transversely of the direction of movement of the conveyor on a transfer path between a lateral pick-up position and the collecting point. The pushing device is reversibly driven in a guide arrangement of the transfer path, wherein the filled collecting containers can be ejected from the collecting point. For driving the pushing device, the pushing device is connected to a drive member of a fixedly mounted drive unit, wherein the drive member is attached to an endless or revolving traction unit.

  • Publication number: 20020027060
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for a gap-free line-up or placement of containers successively supplied from a pick-up section, wherein the containers can be removed from the pick-up section as desired. The container removed from the pick-up section and the containers following the removed container on the subsequent pick-up section as seen in the conveying direction of the containers cause an automatic conveyance of the respectively subsequent container which results in a filling of the gap left by the removed container. The apparatus is composed of a pick-up section for supplied containers provided with a plurality of drivable rollers which are arranged transversely of the conveying or feeding direction of the containers and which form a conveying plane.

  • Patent number: 5959868
Abstract: In order to increase the efficiency of an arrangement for distributing articles for dispatch with a distributing conveyor, a transfer device is proposed. The distributing conveyor is used to deliver the articles for dispatch to collecting containers that are arranged at delivery locations along a conveying route of the distributing conveyor. The transfer device responds to transfer signals emitted by a control device that respectively designate a delivery location of a collecting container, and is used for transferring the collecting containers between the delivery locations and a predetermined transporting route for the collecting containers.

  • Patent number: 5857555
Abstract: A tiltable bowl of a carriage of a sorting line is secured on two supports which are arranged axisymmetrically with respect to one another. The supports are pivotably seated on an axle. On each support, a resilient yoke is formed on one side with its first end. The oppositely disposed second end of the yoke can be displaced within defined limits relative to the supports. Each yoke has a latch cam which, in the horizontal, initial position of the bowl, locks into place behind a projection fixedly connected to the frame and thus locks the bowl in this initial position. When a pusher rod articulated at the second end is pushed upward, the lock is released first and then the bowl is tilted.

  • Patent number: 5819909
Abstract: An apparatus for receiving and transporting flat articles respectively supplied by an overhead loader includes a conveying device comprising a first traction mechanism and transport containers attached to the first traction mechanism. The transport containers have intake openings facing in a direction of the overhead loader for receiving the flat articles from above the conveying device. A guide arrangement is disposed above the conveying device and includes an endlessly rotating second traction mechanism and a plurality of guide elements attached to the second traction mechanism. The guide elements move in the same direction as the conveying direction of the transport containers and approximately parallel to the intake openings of the transport containers. The guide elements are interspersed in the trajectory of the flat articles from the loader into the transport containers.

  • Patent number: 5730273
Abstract: A tipping arrangement in a sorting system includes a carriage body, a shaft connected to the carriage body, a projection secured to the carriage body, and a component pivotally connected to the shaft to be tippable out of a locked base position into at least one tipped position. An actuating apparatus is provided for tipping the component and includes at least one resilient yoke having a first end rigidly secured to the component, and a second end displaceable within a limited range relative to the component. The yoke includes a latching lug defining a stop surface and being located between the first end and the second end. The stop surface engages with the projection for latching the yoke to lock the component in the locked base position. At least one actuating rod is hinged to the second end of the yoke. The at least one actuating rod unlatches the yoke and tips the component into the tipped position.
