  • Patent number: 4848551
Abstract: The torsional vibration damper has annular cover and side discs which are connected with one another in sealed manner in the region of their external circumference and are sealed off in the region of their internal circumference through annular discs movably in relation to a hub disc arranged between these discs. The closed annular space thus produced contains lubricant to reduce wear in the springs which rotationally elastically couple the components of the torsional vibration damper. At least one of the cover or side discs is made axially elastic. Resilient members are provided which clamp the hub disc in between the sealing friction discs and ensure a defined friction torque dimensioned especially for idling operation.

  • Patent number: 4813295
Abstract: A fly-wheel includes a first part and a second part. Both parts are rotatably mounted with respect to the other. Torsional springs are provided in torque-transmitting engagement between the two parts of the fly-wheel. Further, a friction device is provided between the two parts. This friction device is controlled by fly weights and a biasing spring such that below the idling rpm of an internal combustion engine driving the fly-wheel the friction device maintains an increased frictional torque-transmission between the two part.

  • Patent number: 4809830
Abstract: In a torque transmitting torsional vibration damper device for use in a torque transmission path of a motor vehicle between the engine and the gear box a central plate is provided. Two sides plates are provided on both sides of the central plate. The side plates are interconnected for common rotation. Each of the central plate and the side plates is provided with at least two circumferentially extending windows. Respective windows of the central plate and the side plates are aligned in axial direction. Each group of mutually aligned windows receives a pair of torque transmitting compressional springs arranged in series and spaced in circumferential direction. Said discs are provided between the central plate and the side plates. These sides discs are used for circumferential torque transmission between mutually adjacent ends of the compressional springs of each pair. The side discs are supported in radial direction only by engagement with the compressional springs.

  • Patent number: 4782718
Abstract: In a fly-wheel unit of any desired construction type including two separate fly-wheel members, the torsion springs are housed in a liquid receiving chamber which is at least partially filled with a lubricant or with a coolant. In this way inherent noises and excess wear can be damped and heat generation can be uniformly distributed.

  • Patent number: 4655336
Abstract: The clutch disc for a motor vehicle friction clutch comprises a friction damper with friction linings resiliently braced in axially between disc parts. The friction linings have surface regions with different coefficients of friction which can be brought into operative engagement according to choice by control means for the adjustment of the friction torque of the friction damper. In this way the friction torque can be adjusted for the compensation of construction tolerances of the clutch disc, without variation of the spring stress of the friction damper.
