    Abstract: A mechanism for preventing back-flow for a discharge pipe of a pump. The discharge pipe terminates in a container and essentially runs vertically upward. A bell-shaped hood is turned over the exit opening of the discharge pipe so as to form a low-loss siphon. At least one venting apparatus is connected to one of the discharge pipe and the hood.
