  • Patent number: 5098236
Abstract: An arrangement for bracing a load in which a wedge is moved into frictional engagement between a mounting surface and a surface of the load. A spring biased rod is coupled to the wedge and moves it into and out of engagement with the mounting and load surfaces. A stop is provided to prevent the wedge from penetrating between said surfaces beyond a predetermined limit in order to avoid generating excessive forces between said surfaces.

  • Patent number: 5059310
Abstract: A vertical set of sieves receives the particulate material from a vibrating trough conveyor above the set and is vibrated by an agitator on the machine frame. The sieves are spread apart and then tilted to dump the collected particles into respective funnels. The set can then be swung back and contracted for the the next stage. The funnels are connected to collectors which are automatically weighted.

  • Patent number: 4957576
Abstract: Light conductive fibers being embedded as crack monitors in reinforced compound material are protected as follows. During laminate assembly the fiber ends are slipped into relatively short teflon hoses but being provided to be at least in parts embedded in the compound parts to be made; the ends of the hoses that will be embedded are closed with a cold curing laminate resin; the fiber ends with enclosing teflon hoses will be threaded through laminate openings during assembly of the lamination, and the fiber ends with projecting hoses are also inserted in a conical bore of an assembly device; open areas and portions of the compound part adjacent to the conical bore of the assembly tool are filled with laminate resins; a protective cover is then placed onto said bore and over the teflon hose protected fiber ends prior to curing of the part; and the thus prepared part is cured in an autoclave.

  • Patent number: 4940400
Abstract: A lubrication system for a rotary-piston internal combustion engine of the trochoid type with a multi-arc-shaped trochoidal surface and a multi-cornered piston supported on a roller bearing. A dosed quantity of lubricating oil is supplied through an axial bore in the shaft and radial bores in the eccentric into the axial center of the bearing of the eccentric. The outer bushing of this bearing has a U-shaped axial cross-sectional shape and is provided with central radial bores which are aligned with bores in the piston and communicate with axial channels in the piston, the latter channels leading to radial bores in the internal gear of the mechanism. The cross-sectional aperture of these bores may be used to control the quantity of oil supplied to the gear mechanism.

  • Patent number: 4796360
Abstract: For motor-driven chain saws, there is the danger that the chain saw will be kicked back if the reaction forces suddenly increase intensely in response to the forward thrust. This kickback effect and the danger of accident associated therewith are intended to be reduced by means of a special configuration of the saw chain. The saw chain has drive links which have an approximately triangular shape and which engage the tooth gaps of the nose sprocket with inclined flanks. The drive links are configured to be asymmetrical with respect to a partition line running between the two pivot axes of the link so that the forward flank angle is greater than the rearward flank angle referred to the partition line. The two flank angles together are greater than the opening angle of the V-shaped tooth gap of the nose sprocket.

  • Patent number: 4756841
Abstract: Friction-reducing coating compositions and coated machine parts having a wearing surface provided with coatings of same. In one embodiment, the coating composition includes from 10 to 25 weight % molybdenum metal; from 55 to 70 weight % nickel alloy; and from 5 to 25 weight % chromium carbide Cr.sub.3 C.sub.2. In a second embodiment, the coating composition includes from 25 to 45 weight % molybdenum metal; from 45 to 60 weight % nickel alloy; and from 5 to 25 weight % of a hard substance selected from chromium metal, chromium carbide Cr.sub.23 C.sub.6 and molybdenum carbide Mo.sub.2 C. Preferably the nickel alloys contain from 73 to 95 weight % nickel and have a melting point below that of nickel metal. Preferably the friction-reducing coating is applied to a wearing surface by plasma flame spraying. These coatings impart excellent wear resistance to the wearing surface, while lowering wear of counter-running faces.

  • Patent number: 4754549
Abstract: With motor-driven chain saws, there is the danger that the chain saw will be thrown upwardly and rearwardly when it is applied to wood by the user with a forward thrust. Serious injuries can then occur. The invention is directed to a motor-driven chain saw which is so configured that the cutting forces are automatically reduced in response to the occurrence of excessive reaction forces so that the reaction force is immediately reduced to a tolerable amount thereby eliminating the kickback effect. The drive links engaging the nose sprocket of the guide bar are so dimensioned that they can further pivot in the tooth gaps of the nose sprocket out of their normal position and, in this way, take the cutting links with them in such a manner that the free angle of the cutting teeth is reduced. The drive links are latched in the pivoted-in position on the nose sprocket in order to assure that the cutting links will retain the position with the reduced free angle over the entire turnaround region of the guide bar.

  • Patent number: 4337553
Abstract: Apparatus for guiding and clamping an elongated flexible rope comprises a body supporting a plurality of rotatively mounted guide rollers aligned for guiding said rope in a plane. One of said guide rollers is mounted on said body adjacent a tension end of the rope and is selectively lockable against rotation. The other guide roller is mounted on said body adjacent a portion of the rope that is looped around for tension and is mounted for movement toward and away from said first guide roller so that rope passing around both guide rollers and extended between adjacent portions thereof may be pressed into a clamped position when the second guide roller is moved toward said first guide roller. The rope is released upon movement of the second roller in an opposite direction. Anchor means is provided for securing said body to pivot about a fixed point between a rope clamping position and a rope releasing position, and a hook element is provided for securing the body in the rope clamping position.
