Publication number: 20110124033Abstract: Transporters are an emerging target family with enormous potential, offering scientific and economic opportunities The sodium/calcium exchanger is an important mechanism for removing Ca2+ from diverse cells. In heart, it extrudes Ca2+ that has entered through Ca2+ channels to initiate contraction, while Na+ enters the heart cell. It is of considerable interest to identify compounds that modulate, not only the calcium export activity (forward mode), but also the calcium import activity (reverse mode) of sodium/calcium exchangers. The present invention is directed to a fluorescence-based assay for detecting NCX “reverse mode” modulating compounds. It further refers to a kit of parts comprising cells expriming NCX and the use of the kit of parts to test a compound for activity as an agonist or antagonist of NCX.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 13, 2009Publication date: May 26, 2011Applicant: SANOFI-AVENTISInventors: Thomas Licher, Sven Geibel, Manfred Frey

Publication number: 20040211122Abstract: A motor vehicle door has a removable door outer skin, a module carrier, a door inner skin and a door inner trim. The door inner skin is connected on one side to the removable door outer skin and on the other side to the module carrier. A door inner trim is fixed on a side of the module carrier facing a vehicle interior and at least one guide rail of a cable window lifter is prefitted on the other side of the module carrier. In one of an upper and lower region of the guide rail, a pivotal bearing is provided with a pivotal axis running substantially horizontal and parallel to the door plane for the purpose of prefitting the guide rail on the module carrier. Proximate to the other of the upper and lower regions of the guide rail, a stop face is provided that is associated with a side of the door inner skin which faces the door outer skin.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 18, 2004Publication date: October 28, 2004Inventors: Jan Freymuth, Manfred Frei

Patent number: 6214541Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of detecting specific antibodies directed against HPV proteins in body fluids, comprising the following steps: (I) incubating a native carrier material-bound HPV protein with body fluids, and (II) reacting specific antibodies (a) bound to the HPV protein with labeled antibodies (b) directed against antibodies (a) or with unlabeled antibodies (b) and the latter with labeled antibodies (c) directed against antibodies (b). Furthermore, this invention concerns a kit usable for this purpose.Type: GrantFiled: March 9, 1998Date of Patent: April 10, 2001Assignee: Deutsches Krebsforschungszentrum Stiftung Des Offentlichen RechtsInventors: Hanswalter Zentgraf, Manfred Frey, Iris Velhagen, Regina Martens, Wolfgang Meschede, Michael Pawlita, Joris Braspenning, Masimo Tommasino

Patent number: 5560194Abstract: The invention relates to the field of control of textile machinery which enables optimal control of fiber processing machinery to achieve a target operating point. The method optimizes the processing of fibers by determining a machinery model which simulates a fiber processing machine and introduces to the model different parameters related to the machinery and the input fibers to create optimized settings for the parameters of the machinery and the input fibers for the desired output. These optimal settings are introduced to the machinery and the inputted fibers to process the fibers to achieve the desired output.Type: GrantFiled: November 15, 1994Date of Patent: October 1, 1996Assignee: Zellweger Uster, Inc.Inventors: Frederick M. Patent number: 5155989Abstract: A method of and an apparatus for producing a blended yarn from cotton fibers and man-made or synthetic fibers. According to conventional methods the blending of cotton fibers and man-made fibers has been hitherto effected subsequent to a cotton combing process. In order to obtain an appropriate yarn quality, it is necessary to comb out the cotton and thereby separate the short fibers thereof. With the prior art method of bringing together or combining the blend constituents subsequent to the cotton combing process, there have been problems with regard to a homogeneous blending of cotton and man-made fibers. A great number of machines is thereby required and the corresponding constructional expenditure is high. Therefore, a method and an apparatus are suggested and according to which the two blend constituents, namely cotton fibers and man-made fibers, are already brought together or combined prior to the combing process.Type: GrantFiled: February 23, 1990Date of Patent: October 20, 1992Assignee: Reiter Machine Works Ltd.Inventors: Manfred Frey, Reto Thom, Ludwig Lacher

Patent number: 5014885Abstract: An apparatus for feeding bulk material includes a rotor with a plurality of radially extending vanes which are supported on a hollow shaft and are provided with sealing strips at their end faces. Shiftable within the shaft is an adjusting bar with at least two axially spaced conical surfaces which cooperate with push rods having one end bearing against the conical surfaces and another end in force-locking connection with the sealing strips. The adjusting bar is acted upon by a force-applying unit which subjects the adjusting bar to a constant axial holding force which is independent of the axial displacement of the adjusting bar so that a sufficient contact pressure is continuously maintained by which the sealing strips are urged against the housing.Type: GrantFiled: December 6, 1988Date of Patent: May 14, 1991Assignee: Waeschle Maschinenfabrik GmbHInventors: Dieter Heep, Paul Vogel, Manfred Frey, Joachim Schmalz

Patent number: 4784298Abstract: An apparatus for feeding bulk material includes a housing which accommodates a rotor arranged between an inlet port and an outlet port of the housing and having a plurality of radially extending vanes. The vanes are fixed on a shaft and provided with sealing strips for sealing the vanes against the housing. For compensating occurring wear and maintaining the sealing action, the sealing strips are corrected by an adjusting bar with two spaced conical sufaces which cooperate with push rods having one end lying against the conical surfaces and another end in force-locking connection with the sealing strips.Type: GrantFiled: July 8, 1987Date of Patent: November 15, 1988Assignee: Waeschle Maschinenfabrik GmbHInventors: Dieter Heep, Paul Vogel, Manfred Frey
