  • Patent number: 6546326
Abstract: A method for estimating the pressure, i.e., pressure stroke, in a wheel brake cylinder, in particular in connection with a vehicle stability control system for calculating an effective control time, assignable to an instantaneous controller cycle, of an PWM-controlled valve actuating the wheel brake cylinder, on the basis of an actual control time definable by a control unit during the instantaneous controller cycle or an effective control time assignable to a preceding controller system and a valve stroke relative to a maximum stroke; and for calculating a pressure stroke of the wheel brake cylinder between two consecutive controller cycles, based on a valve pressure/volume characteristic retrievable from the control unit; an effective pressure difference across the valve; and the calculated effective control time.

  • Patent number: 6511137
Abstract: A method and apparatus for calculating the actuation control of a hydraulic sub-system of a braking system in order to reduce noises associated with the hydraulics is presented. Input signals and measured/determined characteristics are utilized to calculate a value of a drive time for an inlet valve, a value of a pulse width modulator output, a duration of a current signal reduction time and a pulse width modulator value associated with the current signal reduction time, all of which determine actuation control of the hydraulic sub-system.

  • Publication number: 20020183913
Abstract: A method of coordinating intervention measures into the driving performance of a motor vehicle has the steps of: determining a wheel slip angle &agr;v of a front axle, determining a coefficient of friction &mgr; on the front axle, and determining a wheel slip angle threshold value &agr;v′, where the wheel slip angle &agr;v is compared with the wheel slip angle threshold value &agr;v′ and in the case of an absolute wheel slip angle |&agr;v| which is greater than an absolute wheel slip angle threshold value |&agr;v′|, an intervention measure through the brake system and/or the drive system of the vehicle is implemented. A device for coordinating intervention measures into the driving performance of a vehicle is also described.

  • Publication number: 20020125765
Abstract: A brake system for a vehicle, as well as a method for operating the brake system for a vehicle, a braking pressure that is dependent upon a correction factor being adjusted by the brake system, the correction factor being produced by a characteristic curve which is between the correction factor and the transversal acceleration of the vehicle and which has a range including an ascent that is dependent upon the transversal acceleration of the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 6273525
Abstract: A method and a device for determining a quantity describing the brake circuit pressure, with which the brake circuit pressure is determined for a pressure buildup, in particular a pressure buildup independent of the driver, and also for a pressure reduction. In a pressure buildup independent of the driver, the delivery performance of the pump which delivers the brake medium and is detected with sensing means is taken into account in determining the brake circuit pressure. In a pressure reduction, the brake circuit pressure is determined as a function of a quantity which describes the brake circuit pressure to be expected after the pressure reduction.

  • Patent number: 6174033
Abstract: A method and a device which are used for forming and/or adapting a driving signal of an arrangement for delivering a pressurized medium in a braking system. The driving signal, in particular, of a pump of a braking system, is a function of at least one driving signal and/or the formation of the driving signal of a shut-off device, in particular, of at least one valve, for the inlet and/or outlet and/or passage of the pressurized medium. A delivery rate of the pump is adapted in a manner compatible with the situation, including the valve position resulting from the driving signal and/or its formation and/or the prevailing pressure ratios.

  • Patent number: 5273297
Abstract: A leveling system for vehicles has one pressure regulating valve for controlling each work cylinder disposed between the vehicle body and a wheel support, the work cylinder having a hydraulically controlled main valve and an electromagnetically controlled pilot valve. To avoid uncontrolled motion of the vehicle body upon start-up, the pilot valve has a valve piston controlled by an electromagnet and acted upon in the valve closing direction by pressure in the control chamber of the main valve, which chamber communicates with a fluid source via a throttle, and in the valve opening direction by the pressure in the work cylinder. The valve piston has a valve seat, cooperating with a fixed valve member. The valve inlet of the pilot valve communicates with the control chamber, and its valve outlet communicates with a fluid tank. The main valve has three valve positions.
