  • Publication number: 20040244832
Abstract: A roll-over valve for a blow-by gas circulation system of an engine includes a piston slidably mounted within a valve housing. A lateral inlet opening and an outlet opening are disposed in the valve housing. When the valve is upright, fluid flows freely from the inlet opening to the outlet opening through the valve housing. When the valve overturns, the piston moves axially within the valve housing under the force of gravity into a roll-over position. When the piston is in the roll-over position, it blocks the fluid path between the inlet and outlet lines to close the valve. The inlet opening is positioned such that pressure in the inlet opening does not impede the movement of the piston. An air bleed passage fluidly connects portions of the valve housing that are above and below the piston and dampens movement of the piston within the valve housing.

  • Patent number: 6116279
Abstract: A valve cartridge has a hollow housing having an open end, a floor plate closing the open end and formed with a plurality of throughgoing ports each having an inner surface, a valve plate in the housing fixed atop the floor plate and formed with holes aligned with the floor-plate ports, a movable valve plate in the housing atop the fixed valve plate and formed with a cavity, and an actuating element connected to the movable valve plate for displacing the movable valve plate on the fixed plate and shifting the cavity into and out of engagement with the fixed-plate holes so that if one of the holes is supplied with water under pressure the actuating element can control flow from the one hole to the other hole. Respective annular seal rings made of an elastomeric plastic are received in the ports, formed in situ in the ports, and have outer surfaces bonded to the inner surfaces of the respective ports. The floor plate is made of a material that can bond to and slide relative to the plastic of the seal rings.

  • Patent number: 4393781
Abstract: A fuze for the firing of a projectile from a gun barrel comprises a breech piece threaded onto the rear end of the barrel and defining therewith a cylindrical chamber for a charge of liquid propellant to be tangentially introduced upon insertion into the barrel of the projectile to be fired. A pyrotechnical detonator is carried on the aft end of the projectile and extends rearwardly therefrom into the chamber when the projectile is thus emplaced, with the injected propellant circulating around it. The projectile is discharged upon ignition of the detonator by a firing pin. The pin is guided in a plunger surrounded by a retractable sleeve which serves to position the shell in the barrel by engaging an area of its aft end surrounding the detonator.

  • Patent number: 3993893
Abstract: Apparatus is provided for reading information represented by at least one data line on a data carrier. Means are provided which define a path along which said data carrier is movable in a forward direction transversely to said data line. Line-reading means are adapted to detect said information when said data line is in a predetermined positon relative to said line-reading means. Position-detecting means are arranged to deliver a position-indicating signal when said data line is in said predetermined position. Data-receiving means are adapted to receive said information. Data-transmitting means serve to transmit the information detected by said line-reading means to said data-receiving means in response to said position-indicating signal.
