A method monitors a secured area in a centralized repository; detects the creation of one or more files at the centralized repository, wherein the files include patient-related data, and in response to detecting the creation: connects to the centralized repository from a computer associated with a medical practice; authenticates the connection to access a secured area; and accesses one or more files in the secured area.
