  • Patent number: 7780103
Abstract: A method for winding a skein-shaped windable product onto a spool formed of two spool halves (12, 14) which converge conically towards a middle radial plane (10) with two flange discs (16, 18) at the outer ends, includes the steps of rotating the spool about its central axis during the winding process, and feeding the windable product by a guide that moves along the length of the spool. There is further step of winding the windable product in layers substantially parallel to the lower conical surface up to the top conical surface, and the winding layers end respectively in a cylindrical surface connecting the circumference of the two flange discs (16, 18).

  • Publication number: 20040206850
Abstract: The invention relates to a winding spool, made of two spool bodies stuck to each other, which has a cylindrical reel barrel and two lateral spool flanges, the abutting surfaces extending radially, preferably, in the middle of said winding barrel. Said winding spool also comprises adhesive tongues, which are formed on said abutting surfaces and engage into corresponding insertion pockets of the other respective spool body. The aim of the invention is to optimally design the joining area of both spool bodies, in order to provide the rotational accuracy as well as to avoid edges and deformations in said joining area. Said aim is achieved, whereby the winding spool is deigned, such that the spool bodies are joined to each other positively or non-positively and the application force, which acts on the contact surfaces, is increased. The adhesive tongues, projecting from said abutting surfaces, extend in the shape of a semicircle and the insertion pockets have corresponding shape.

  • Patent number: 6089500
Abstract: A winding spool, includes a hollow barrel having at least one flange which is detachable mounted to one end of the barrel by means of a bayonet coupling which includes a plurality of locking elements and retaining elements connected to the barrel end and an inside wall of the flange, respectively, and so interacting with one another that the flange can be attached to the barrel end and secured thereto by twisting the flange relative to the barrel until reaching a stop constituting a lock position of the bayonet coupling. The retaining elements and the locking elements are formed with bores which are in alignment when the bayonet coupling occupies the lock position. In alignment of the bores, a plug member can be inserted in axial direction of the spool to thereby realize a securement of the lock position of the bayonet coupling.

  • Patent number: 5330127
Abstract: A winding spool for ribbonlike or filamentary winding material includes a cylindrical mandrel which is provided at each axial end with a disk-like rim. Arranged concentrically inside the mandrel is a tubular inner hub which is connected in one piece with the mandrel at one axial end thereof. The other axial end of the mandrel is closed by a cover which is provided with a central bore for attachment of a mandrel drive shaft of a winding machine. An inner tubular member with smooth inside surface is fixedly secured to the cover in elongation of the central bore and to the inner hub for improving integrity of the winding spool when being subjected to extreme loads during winding or unwinding of the material.

  • Patent number: 4317970
Abstract: An entrapment prevention device for ensuring that people or obstacles do not become trapped in the path of automatic doors, windows and the like features an elongate sensor which can be fitted along an edge of an opening or of a closure member adapted to close the opening. The sensor features a pair 11 of electrically conductive bands 13 and 14 which are held spaced apart and facing each other by insulating strips 17 with the pair of bands being wound in helical form round a core 12 to form an elongate structure. A series of transverse slots are provided in the surface of the radially outer band 14 so that the remaining web portions 15 can be easily deflected by light contact pressure to electrically contact the radially inner band 14. This electrical contact is sensed by a monitoring circuit 24 which energizes a relay 26 to stop or reverse the automatic drive. The pair of bands 11 is surrounded by an outer helically wound resilient cushion 18 and is enclosed in a continuous outer sleeve 19.
