    Abstract: A proximity switch having a test and an evaluation circuit contains a control circuit for generating pulses, an oscillator, a periodically activated damping circuit for the oscillator and a relay circuit. The test circuit, with the damping circuit and a control circuit, generates a pulse sequence required for the active testing only so long as the proximity switch is not damped by an outside element. The evaluation circuit carries a response current only as long as the test circuit also actively tests in its faultless condition.
