  • Patent number: 5651440
Abstract: A disengageable universal shaft for rolling mill drives having a flange on the roll side that can be coupled centrally with the coupling sleeve attached to the roll shaft and a flange at the gear side that is connected with the drive via a spline shaft that enables the disengaging movement. The spline shaft is penetrated centrally by an extensible part of a piston-cylinder unit and is constructed at the output stub on the gear side. This output stub is enclosed by a longitudinally displaceable coupling bushing that is connected with the flange of the universal shaft on the gear side.

  • Patent number: 5479805
Abstract: A two-high cross rolling mill with driven rolls situated one above the other and a pair of rotatably driven guide disks which are supported in rockers which are swivelable around vertical axles and can be adjusted transversely to the swivel axis of the rockers. To optimize the adjusting time and adjusting accuracy, each of the two bearing members of each guide disk is arranged in a vertically adjustable chock so as to be swivelable around a horizontal axis extending transversely to the rolling direction. Each chock is fastened in turn in a clampable manner in a bearing slide which is adjustable in the direction of these swivel axes in horizontal planes and arranged in each instance in fitted guides which are guided in the rockers so as to be displaceable parallel to the rolling direction independently from one another.

  • Patent number: 4724697
Abstract: A combination of a mandrel rod and a mandrel rod holding device for use in a continuous mill for making seamless tubes and being mounted to a driven mandrel rod shifting device, the mandrel rod having a portion of reduced diameter and a shoulder near said end, a two-arm pivot lever is pivoted on the shifting device for pivoting about an axis extending transversely to a direction of extension of the mandrel rod, the direction extending in a direction of rolling; a fork on one arm end of the two-arm pivot lever releasably but form-fittingly holds and engages one end of the mandrel rod and when the two arm pivot lever is in a first pivot position for thereby retarding the mandrel rod as against an action of rolling, the fork engages and retards the shoulder of the mandrel rod, the fork is constructed for releasing the mandrel rod when the two arm pivot lever is in a second pivot position; and a toggle lever has one end pivotally linked to the shifting device and another opposite end is pivotally jointed directly

  • Patent number: 4009610
Abstract: The upper one of a pair of grooved rolls is mounted on a carrier which is hydraulically biased in up direction but held down by a carriage acting as a lock and being pivotally suspended from a crossbeam of the roll stand. A hydraulic drive can retract the carriage laterally permitting the carrier to yield in up direction for exchanging the plug.
