Patent number: 6237379Abstract: A lock system has a housing, a barrel rotatable in the housing, tumblers radially displaceable in the barrel and housing between an unlocked position permitting the barrel to rotate in the housing out of a center position and a locked position blocking rotation of the barrel in the housing and retaining the barrel in the center position, and an actuating element rotatable in the housing about the axis and juxtaposed with an inner end of the barrel. Lock members are operable by the element and a switch in the housing is operable by the barrel on displacement out of the center position to energize an electric motor that can rotate the element and thereby mechanically operate the lock members. A key fittable in the barrel is displaceable axially therein through an axial stroke between an outer position and an inner position.Type: GrantFiled: April 16, 1999Date of Patent: May 29, 2001Assignee: Roto Frank Eisenwarenfabrik AGInventor: Manfred Hötzl

Patent number: 6007114Abstract: A lock has an actuating nut rotatable about an axis and formed with a radially extending guide, a bolt-controlling push rod slidable offset from the axis in a predetermined direction transverse to the axis, and a slide displaceable radially of the axis in the guide and having an outer end remote from the axis. A pin is engaged between the outer end of the slide and the push rod so that on rotation of the nut about the axis the slide and pin move angularly relative to the axis and the slide moves radially relative to the axis. The guide is a groove formed in the nut and he push rod is formed with a hole receiving the pin and the pin is fixed on the outer end of the slide.Type: GrantFiled: July 29, 1997Date of Patent: December 28, 1999Assignee: Roto Frank Eisenwarenfabrik AGInventor: Manfred Hotzl

Patent number: 5946956Abstract: An electromechanical lock system has a lock cylinder including a body, a rotatable core forming a key passage, and carrying at least one magnet, tumblers engageable between the core and the body and shiftable between positions blocking rotation of the core in the body and freeing positions permitting such rotation, a sensor juxtaposable with the magnet in an angular position of the core in the body, anda coupling member juxtaposed with an inner end of the core, forming an inner extension of the passage, and rotatable in the body independently of the core. A mechanically operable element is coupled mechanically to the coupling member and an electrically operable element is coupled electrically to the sensor.Type: GrantFiled: April 20, 1998Date of Patent: September 7, 1999Assignee: Roto Frank Eisenwarenfabrik AGInventor: Manfred Hotzl

Patent number: 5482334Abstract: A door lock having upper and lower vertically spaced actuator seats centered on respective vertically spaced upper and lower axes has a handle assembly having inner and outer mounting plates horizontally flanking the door lock. An upper stem fitted in the upper actuator seat and supported on the inner plate can rotate about the upper actuator axis and carries an inner handle. A lower stem fitted in the lower actuator seat and supported on the outer plate can rotate about the lower axis. An outer stem separate from the inner stem and supported on the outer plate can rotate about the upper axis coaxially with the inner stem and carries an outer handle. Gearing interconnects the outer and lower stems for rotation of the lower stem about the lower axis on rotation of the outer stem about the upper axis.Type: GrantFiled: October 6, 1993Date of Patent: January 9, 1996Assignee: Roto Frank Eisenwarenfabrik AktiengesellschaftInventor: Manfred Hotzl

Patent number: 5404737Abstract: A lock assembly has a main lock housing, a bolt movable in the housing between a locked position projecting from the housing and an unlocked position largely recessed in the housing and a double cylinder having an outside key-operable part rotatable by an appropriately bitted key and an inside part rotatable by the outside part and also rotatable independently of the outside part. The inside part carries an actuator movable on rotation of either part. A gear linkage between the actuator and the bolt displaces the bolt. A secondary housing is provided adjacent the lock housing and an actuator element coupled and movable with the linkage extends from the lock housing to the secondary housing. The element moves relative to the secondary housing on movement of the bolt between its positions. An electric motor on the secondary housing connected to the element is energizable for displacing same and thereby also displacing the bolt between its positions.Type: GrantFiled: March 30, 1993Date of Patent: April 11, 1995Assignee: Roto Frank Eisenwarenfabrik AktienInventor: Manfred Hotzl

Patent number: 5394718Abstract: A lock assembly has a main lock housing, a bolt movable in the housing between a locked position projecting from the housing and an unlocked position largely recessed in the housing, a key-operable mechanism having an actuator movable by turning of an appropriately bitted key in the mechanism, and a linkage between the actuator and the bolt for displacing the bolt by means of the actuator. A secondary housing is provided adjacent the lock housing and an actuator element coupled and movable with the linkage extends from the lock housing to the secondary housing. The element moves in one direction relative to the secondary housing on movement of the bolt from the locked to the unlocked position and in the opposite direction on movement of the bolt from the unlocked to the locked position. An electric motor on the secondary housing connected to the element is energizable for displacing same in both directions and thereby also displacing the bolt between its positions.Type: GrantFiled: March 30, 1993Date of Patent: March 7, 1995Assignee: Roto Frank Eisenwarenfabrik AktiengesellschaftInventor: Manfred Hotzl

Patent number: 5096237Abstract: A latch has a housing, a main bolt displaceable in the housing between a fully extended position projecting fully from the housing and a retracted position generally withdrawn into the housing, and a spring engaged between the main bolt and the housing for urging the main bolt with a predetermined spring force into the fully extended position. At least one secondary bolt is similarly displaceable relative to the housing between an extended and a retracted position. A lockout mechanism in the housing connected between the main bolt and the secondary bolt prevents the secondary bolt from being displaced from its withdrawn into its extended position except when the main bolt is in its fully extended position. The bolt is engageable in a keeper provided with a spring-loaded flap that inhibits the bolt from extending thereinto into its fully extended position and that normally retains it in an intermediate position.Type: GrantFiled: June 24, 1991Date of Patent: March 17, 1992Assignee: Roto Frank Eisenwarenfabrik AktiengesellschaftInventor: Manfred Hotzl
