Abstract: The bimetal thermoswitch consists of an electrically insulating, flat carrier (1), at least two electric terminals (3, 4), which are secured to the carrier (1) and are respectively connected to a fixed contact (10), which is mounted on the carrier, and to a contact spring (8), which is secured at one end to the carrier (1) and at its other end carries a movable contact element (9), which cooperates with the fixed contact (10). The carrier (1) consists of an alumina ceramic slab.

Abstract: A safety cutout device for electric loads, particularly for use in pressing irons and portable heating apparatus, has a temperature switch, such as a bimetallic switch, which is adapted to be connected in series with the electric load. An electrical component adapted to be connected in parallel with the load and having an open and a closed switching state, and being normally open, is connected in series with a resistor adapted to be connected in parallel with the load and arranged in heat transfer relationship with the temperature switch and for heating the temperature switch to its operating temperature to open the switch. A further resistor, which continuously bridges and heats the temperature switch to an extent sufficient to maintain the temperature switch in its actuated open position, is connected in parallel with the temperature switch and adapted to be connected in series with the load.

Abstract: A temperature-controlled bimetal switch is formed of a flat housing with an upper wall and a lower wall closely spaced apart. A fixed contact is secured to the inner surface of the upper wall and a curved bimetal snap plate and a contact spring are positioned between the upper and lower walls. The housing is formed of a transparent or translucent rigid plastics material permeable to radiant heat. A movable contact is formed on one end of the contact spring and is displaceable into and out of contact with the fixed contact by the snap plate. The snap plate is loosely secured to the contact spring and is positioned so that radiant heat passing through the housing directly impinges on the snap plate.
