  • Publication number: 20240074932
Abstract: Disclosed is a buttock support for at least partial load-relief of the body weight of a person, the buttock support having two support regions adapted to receive at least part of a buttock region of the person. Also disclosed is a load-relief system having the aforementioned buttock support. The two support regions are separated from one another by a gap and are rounded. The gap separates the two support regions from one another centrally. The buttock support significantly simplifies the connection of a person to the aforementioned load-relief system to prepare for manual and/or automated physical therapy and also ensures that the thigh region, in particular the inner face of the thigh, and the groin region are accessible for further medical/therapeutic treatment by the medical staff.

  • Patent number: 8819870
Abstract: A headgear adjustment mechanism is provided that includes a worm having a central axis of rotation, a first headband element, a second headband element, a spur gear, and a housing. The first headband element includes (i) a worm rack disposed in operative engagement with the worm, and (ii) a first pinion rack. The second headband element includes a second pinion rack. The spur gear is disposed in simultaneous operative engagement with the first pinion rack and the second pinion rack, and the housing at least partially encloses the first and second headband elements. During operation of the adjustment mechanism, rotation of the worm about the axis of rotation causes the first headband element and the second headband element to translate in opposite directions with respect to the worm, thereby adjusting a fit of the headgear.

  • Publication number: 20130212846
Abstract: A releasable two-part buckle having a first part and a second part is provided. The first and second parts have forward and rearward ends. A hook extends towards the forward end of the first part, while an arm extends towards the forward end of the second part. The hook has a first engagement surface. The arm has a center axis and a loop with a second engagement surface. The arm moves between an engaged state having the engagement surfaces engaged at a contact surface and a disengaged state having the engagement surfaces disengaged. In some embodiments, the buckle is configured so that the contact surface bisects the center axis in the engaged state. In other embodiments, the buckle is configured so that, when in the engaged state, a tension applied to the buckle induces substantially no bending moment in the arm towards the disengaged state.

  • Patent number: 8356507
Abstract: Devices and methods for manufacturing fittings (2) with different ends (3, 4) are disclosed, such fittings permitting different measures of connection. For example, one fitting (2) is a threaded end connector with its one end (4) being potentially configured as a compression fitting and its other end (3) as a thread-bearing end. An intermediate section (5) having preferably a polygonal cross-section is provided between the two ends (3, 4). Starting with a pipe piece (1), the manufacture takes place in a few process-safe method steps.

  • Patent number: 7587924
Abstract: A method for manufacturing a fitting. The method steps include: providing a pipe section; pressurizing the pipe section; forming a first end of the pipe section to create a press-fit connection having a smooth-walled seat for insertion of at least one of sealing and holding elements; forming a middle section to create a pipe-like polygonal-shaped element and a thickened section adjacent to the polygonal-shaped element; and cutting in a thread on a second end of the pipe section, thereby creating a fitting having a press-fit connection and threaded connection.

  • Patent number: 7481462
Abstract: A flange connection for pipes, especially for sanitary installations. The flange connection comprises a connecting piece which can be joined at each end to a pipe to produce a sealed connection. The flange connection further comprises a flange which is arranged radially outside on the connecting piece and which is fixable to a further component to make an indirect connection between the connecting piece and the further component. The flange has an opening through which the connecting piece is guided and the flange is fixed on the connecting piece by a retaining element.

  • Patent number: 5079479
Abstract: To eliminate a holding frame for a starting wire (20) outside of an elongd discharge vessel (1), the starting wire (20) is directly connected to one of the electrode leads (4, 5), typically niobium tubes, by a bimetal strip (21) which is, preferably, bent in stepped form or Z shape. Under cold conditions, the strip or wire (20) is in engagement with the outside of the discharge vessel (1) to assist in starting, due to its electrical connection via the bimetal strip (21) with one of the electrodes; upon heating of the lamp, the bimetal strip (21) will lift the wire (20) off engagement with the discharge vessel (1) and thus prevent deterioration thereof.
