  • Patent number: 5351099
Abstract: A support arm with a holder for a bearing element such as a nose pad for fastening the holder to a respective frame of eyeglasses. The support arm is constituted, along at least a portion of its length, by a core of hard material and inner and an outer layer of wires wound spirally as a jacket around the core. Because of this combination of materials, the support arm has both adequate stability in the normal position when the glasses are worn by the glasses wearer and also flexible resiliency and ensuing restoration of the normal position in the event of an external strain such as an impact, without permanent deformation of the support arm.

  • Patent number: 4904076
Abstract: A nose pad adapted to be attached to a spectacle frame to form a part thereof. The nose pad has a relatively hard base body, a relatively soft, skin-friendly and slip-resistant covering on the base body and a securing arrangement affixed to the base body and projected from the covering for connecting the nose pad to the spectacle frame. The securing arrangement comprises a plurality of spaced anchoring pins adapted to be directly received by respective bores provided in a front piece of the spectacle frame. At least one of the anchoring pins has a pulling force-resistant device for resisting a separation of the nose pad from the spectacle frame by forces applied to the nose pad and directed away from the spectacle frame.

  • Patent number: 4040729
Abstract: An articulated nose support for spectacle frames in which a bracket insert, embedded partially in a nose pad, serves as a first pivot member and a stem frame, attached to a supporting stem, serves as a second pivot member surrounding the former, the male and female pivot elements in the form of cooperating journal trunnions and journal bores being part of either the one or the other pivot member. For assembly purposes, at least one pivot member is flexible and the journal trunnions have entry tapers.
