  • Patent number: 6652629
Abstract: Described is a filter apparatus (10) having an activated carbon molded body (12) with a honeycomb structure. The filter apparatus (10) has connection elements (16, 18) at the feed flow end and the discharge flow end. The activated carbon molded body (12) is provided in a sealing element which is sealingly connected to the two connection elements (16, 18). The sealing element (20) is formed by a shrink tube (22) into which the activated carbon molded body (12) is shrunk and which is shrunk sealingly on to the connection elements (16, 18). The activated carbon molded body (12) can be in one piece or can comprise at least two mutually spaced activated carbon body portions (42).

  • Patent number: 5603753
Abstract: A filter device includes a housing having an inlet for a gaseous medium to be filtered and an outlet for the filtered medium. Disposed in the housing is a flat carrier providing a plurality of mutually adjacent layers forming a stack. The layers are so arranged in the housing that they extend in the direction of flow of the medium from the inlet through the housing to the outlet. Adsorber particles of elongate configuration are fixed on the layers and oriented at least approximately in the direction of flow of the medium through the housing.

  • Patent number: 4565736
Abstract: A surgical compress is described which is made of an absorptive layer and a wound covering layer, the covering layer spun or otherwise made of nonwoven hydrophobic fibers so that absorption of wound secretions is facilitated.

  • Patent number: 4394411
Abstract: Structural panel of gypsum and an envelope, partly impressed therein, of a bonded mineral and/or fiberglass fabric which has on the inside facing the gypsum larger pores than on the outside, the fabric containing at least two kinds of fibers which are cemented together by a bonding agent, where the fibers with the larger diameter are arranged on the inside and the bonding agent contains 30 to 85 percent by weight aluminum, iron and/or silicon hydroxide.

  • Patent number: 4203435
Abstract: A wound dressing comprising at least five layers, the two outer layers comprising a permeable material non-adherent to a wound, below each outer layer there being arranged an absorbent layer each comprising cellulosic fibers, the absorbent layers being separated by a distribution layer comprising at least one of cellulose, carboxymethyl cellulose and a starch polymer. Advantageously the outer layers comprise a nonwoven fleece, a knit or woven fabric, or a perforated plastic sheet of at least one of polypropylene, polyethylene, polyesters, and polyamides, and the periphery of at least one of the outer layers carries a self-adhering adhesive inert to the skin. The entire structure is needled and, if fibrous, the outer layers are lightly thermally bonded so as to be fuzz-free.

  • Patent number: 4132650
Abstract: A filter element that is particularly suitable for filtration of blood is made by compacting a mixture of fibers that is non-injurious to blood and one component of which has a lower softening temperature than the other component or components at a temperature sufficient to soften said fiber component and thereby bind the various fiber components together to form a stable and substantially uniform filter element.
