  • Patent number: 6102783
Abstract: An apparatus for finishing a surface of a camshaft extending along an axis with the surface offset from the axis has a drive for rotating the camshaft about the axis, a support displaceable radially of the axis, and a plurality of pusher heads on the support. The heads are movable independently of each other toward and away from the camshaft relative to the support along respective angularly offset pusher axes extending radially of the camshaft. All the pusher heads are biased along the respective pusher axes toward the camshaft axis with substantially the same force.

  • Patent number: 5078570
Abstract: A machining operation where a workpiece is moved stepwise in a transport direction through a succession of stations has a transport apparatus comprising a stationary housing adjacent the stations, a rail extending in the direction adjacent the stations and movable both parallel and perpendicular to the direction, and a plurality of clamps spaced apart in the direction on the rail and each displaceable between an open and a closed position, whereby a workpiece can be gripped by each of the clamps in the closed position thereof. A set of control rods carried and displaceable on the rail is oppositely displaceable to move the clamps between their open and closed positions. A pair of like lever systems each having an inner end pivoted on the housing and an outer end pivoted on the rail can be synchronously pivoted to displace the rail through a predetermined stroke perpendicular to the direction between inner and outer positions.

  • Patent number: 4800682
Abstract: The grinder, especially a high precision grinder, for a ring bearing which has a race with a curved cross section comprises at least one tool support and at least one tool holder. The tool holder is support in the tool support on two equal feed guide rods. A feed piston cylinder device for a feed and a withdrawal motion is provided. The tool support with the tool holder is oscillatable to and fro about a substantially central oscillation axis through the tool support which provides a tool mounted in the tool holder in the working position with a to and fro pivoting motion rotating substantially about the center of the curved cross section of the race. To minimize disturbing vibration the feed guide rods are held and secured at both ends by at least one crosstie bar. The crosstie bars at both ends of the feed guide bars are mass balanced in regard to the pivoting motion.
