  • Patent number: 6543354
Abstract: A device for quickly and reliably establishing a production-run state in a printing group of a rotary printing machine after the printing cycle has been interrupted. A plurality of freely programmable memory devices having various different printing control programs stored therein may be manually or automatically connected to a control computer that determines which of the preprogrammed control programs are necessary to return the printing machine to a production-run state. The computer then controls the inking unit and, as applicable, the dampening unit in such way that its inking profile for production-run printing is quickly established.

  • Patent number: 5913471
Abstract: A capture device in a printing machine for capturing a printing stock web in the event of a tear in the printing stock web includes two capture cylinders, one of which is movably mounted on a pneumatic piston or other resilient device. The capture device also includes a device for preventing an ink buildup on the capture cylinders. The device for preventing an ink buildup may include washing devices for removing the printing ink deposited on rubber blankets mounted on the outer surface of the capture cylinders. The device to prevent the ink buildup may also include outer surfaces of the cylinders 5, 6 made of an ink-repellent material, such as, for example, chrome. However, the washing devices 12, 13 can also be used in addition to the ink-repellant material.

  • Patent number: 5341736
Abstract: In cooperating cylinders, in particular cylinders of a printing mechanism which are in a drive connection via gear wheels and form a feed gap, at least one of the gear wheels is formed by a toothed rim and a wheel body which are connected with one another in a positive engagement via an overload coupling.

  • Patent number: 4397237
Abstract: To provide access to an ink application roller (11) located circumferentially about the plate cylinder (1) and behind another ink application roller (10), the inner one (11) of the ink application rollers is secured to an inner support plate (14) which is pivotable together with an outer support plate (13) about a bushing of a bearing (21) retaining a milling roller of the ink train, the outer plate additionally supporting other ink distribution rollers (7, 8) receiving ink from an ink supply roller (3), so that the entire roller train (B) formed by the ink distribution rollers (7, 8) and the inner one (11) of the ink application rollers can be tipped out of engagement position to thereby provide access to those rollers which are located behind the milling roller (9).

  • Patent number: 4361090
Abstract: To provide for selective strip or intermittent ink feed or film ink feed to an offset printing machine, a ductor roller (1) picks up ink from an ink trough (7); a lifter roller (2) is selectively positionable either in intermittent contact between the ductor roller (1) and an ink receiving transfer roller (4) when in strip or intermittent mode, and in continuous engagement with the ink receiving transfer roller (4) when in ink film mode; for ink film mode of operation, additionally, an additional transfer roller (3) is engaged with the ductor roller (1) and the lifter roller (3) in continuous engagement with the receiving transfer roller (4), the engagement between the ink transfer roller (3) and the ductor roller (1) including an ink transfer and stripping nip of suitable width. The additional transfer roller (3) is carried along by friction, the relative surface speeds between the driven ductor roller (1) and the plate cylinder being preferably about 1:60.
