    Abstract: A multilayer plate for use in covering waste depositories comprises at least one drainage layer and a filter stabilization layer, the drainage layer serving to facilitate or enable the removal of water seeping downwardly from the surface of the depository covering or gases rising from the depository body. The filter stabilization layer comprises a fabric web, while the drainage layer includes a plastic grid. The plate is prefabricated and is of sufficient flexibility to be wound upon a roll for transport to a depository site. In one form, the prefabricated plate also includes a synthetic resin barrier layer which, upon installation of the plate, blocks the passage of water from above and the passage of gases from below.

    Abstract: A production line for the manufacture of electric parts includes a conveyor belt and a plurality of parallel-arranged processing stations disposed along the belt. Workpiece carriers are transported by the belt. Each processing station includes a lifting mechanism which lifts at least one carrier from the belt for further handling, while leaving the belt unobstructed so that subsequent carriers can be conveyed beneath the lifted carrier. A gripper inserts workpieces onto the raised carrier and/or removes workpieces from the raised carrier. Movable stops are positioned upstream of the lifting mechanism to stop a subsequent carrier as the lifted carrier is lowered back onto the belt.

    Abstract: A method and apparatus for the subsequent underground sealing of an area, preferably of dumps. With the method, it is possible to seal dumps underground. Working pipes are introduced from a region outside a dump body. The region of soil between the working pipes is loosened, and sealing material is then introduced into this region, which solidifies to become a sheet-like sealing compound. With this method, in particular existing dump bodies can be sealed subsequently underground, without having to drill through the dump body. The apparatus for carrying out the method has a loosening device, and a feed device for the sealing material. The two devices are able to move in the region between two adjacent working pipes.

    Abstract: Stators are produced by advancing stator workpieces successively to a plurality of work stations. The stators are mounted in holders which each comprises a pair of downwardly depending legs resting on a pair of horizontally spaced conveyor belts. The belts are continuously driven to advance the holders to the work stations. At each station the holder is restrained from movement (e.g., by being lifted off the belts) while the belts continue to be driven. At a winding station, upper and lower winding forms are advanced toward a stator workpiece, the lower form passing between said belts and legs.

    Abstract: A method and apparatus for the underground installation of pipelines. The underground installation of pipelines is carried out by driving pipe sections into the ground. The earth is loosened at the driving face via a liquid jet, and the excess earth is transported away from the removal zone. Only so much of the earth that has been loosened and mixed with the liquid is removed, such that the removal zone is always completely filled with the earth-liquid mixture. The larger earth aggregates or obstructions in the ground are forced outwards. In this way, the driving face does not require any special support. A receiving device with entry orifices for the earth-liquid mixture is located behind a nozzle head provided for discharging the liquid jet. A sluice serves to pass the mixture into a removal pipe in a controlled manner.

    Abstract: A method for installing thin-walled sealing elements in the fabrication of slotted walls in the soil. The thin-walled sealing elements are plastic foils with vertical connecting elements at the vertical edges. A connecting slot is flushed out between a newly made slotted-wall section and the interior of the adjacent slotted connecting tube of the previously installed sealing element. The slot and the interior of the connecting tube are filled with a support suspension. Then a new sealing element is threaded through the filled connecting slot into the previously installed connecting tube.

    Abstract: A pair of webs each extending over a large area and disposed in a vertical orientation in a suspension are interconnected by a pair of telescoping tubes attached to juxtaposed edges of the respective barrier webs. Material of the suspension is removed from the space within the inner tube to provide a hydraulic trap for liquid entering the connection or coupling between the two tubes. A device is provided for inspecting the level of the liquid collected in the hydraulic trap or for removing the collected liquid. The barrier webs are advantageously made of synthetic resin material such as high-density polyethylene.

    Abstract: A method for reducing compressed air losses when driving underground cavities which are supported by compressed air. The part of the inner cavity face exposed by mining is sealed by a viscous medium after breaking away the earth. With a supply of propellant, the viscous medium is applied, in the form of a spray mist which is directed toward the exposed part of the inner cavity face, in such a way that the mist penetrates the substratum without substantially destroying the exposed face. Particles of rock are thus prevented from being detached from the face which is to be sealed.

    Abstract: A driving shield having a shield shell and a transverse wall for defining a work chamber, and a removal arm pivotally journalled on the transverse wall. The removal arm has a removal tool for mining or removing a face wall which also delimits the work chamber. A pressure medium supply is provided for attaining a support pressure in the work chamber. Material worked away from the face wall is removed by a discharge conduit arranged essentially along the bottom of the shield shell. The work or material-removing arm is journalled on the transverse wall in the pneumatic pressure duct, and the pressure medium supply is embodied as a pneumatic conduit. A sealing medium application device is movably coupled with the work arm, and the delivery nozzle of the device is directed upon the immediate surroundings at the free end of the removal tool.
