Abstract: Fiber-reactive formazan dyes are prepared by diazotizing a protectively formylated hydroxyphenylenediamine, coupling with a hydrazone compound, metallizing, eliminating the protective group, and reacting with a halotriazine and optionally thereafter with an amine or a hydroxy compound via novel aminophenol intermediates.

Abstract: Reactive phthalocyanine dyes are prepared by reacting phthalocyaninesulfonyl chlorides with amines containing a reactive group and subjecting the resulting reaction mixture to a membrane treatment.

Abstract: Vat dyes obtainable bya) halogenation of dibenzanthrone with bromine in the presence of chlorosulfonic acid and of a halogenation catalyst to a bromine content from 26 to 32% by weight and a chlorine content from 1 to 5% by weight, andb) condensation of the isolated halogenation product with 1-aminoanthraquinone in a molar ratio from 1:2 to 1:2.5 in the presence of an inert solvent, the concentration of halogenated dibenzanthrone and 1-aminoanthraquinone together being at least 200 g/l of solventare useful for dyeing or printing cellulose-containing textile material.

Abstract: There is described a process for preparing reactive phthalocyanine dyes with .beta.-substituted ethylsulfonyl or vinylsulfonyl groups by reacting a phthalocyaninesulfonyl chloride with amines with .beta.-substituted ethylsulfonyl or vinylsulfonyl groups with or without further amines in the presence of a heterocyclic catalyst.

Abstract: A process for preparing 1-amino-4-hydroxyanthraquinone by treating 1,4-dihydroxyanthraquinone with ammonia in an aqueous medium comprises treating with ammonia in the presence of a base and of a catalytic amount of a reducing agent at from 60.degree. to 150.degree. C. and at from 1 to 30 bar.

Abstract: There are described the preparation of 5-halo-2-(1-anthraquinonylamino)benzoic acids of the general formula I ##STR1## (X.sup.1 : Cl or Br; X.sup.2 : H, Cl or Br, identical or different when n>1; n: 1-6) by reacting 2-(1-anthraquinonylamino)benzoic acids II ##STR2## with the halogen in the presence of sulfuric acid, and the preparation of 4'-halo-2,1(N)-anthraquinonyl-1',2'(N)-benzacridones III ##STR3## by cyclizing condensation of the acids I.

Abstract: A process for preparing metal aminoformazans by alkaline hydrolysis of the corresponding acylated amino derivates in aqueous medium, is described, the hydrolysis being carried out at from 120.degree. to 170.degree. C. and from 3 to 5 bar in the presence of from 1.5 to 3 mol of an alkali metal hyroxide, based on 1 mol of acylated aminoformazan.

Abstract: A process for preparing ureas of the formula ##STR1## where the ring A can be substituted and benzo-fused andn is 0 or 2,R.sup.4 and R.sup.5 are hydrogen, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkyl or phenyl,L is unsubstituted or substituted C.sub.2 -C.sub.4 -alkylene, or NR.sup.5 and L are together the radical of the formula ##STR2## and Z is hydroxyl or a radical which can be eliminated under alkaline reaction conditions,by reacting a phenylurea of the formula ##STR3## where R.sup.4 and the ring A each have the abovementioned meanings, with an amine of the formula ##STR4## where n, R.sup.5, L and Z each have the abovementioned meanings, at from 80.degree. to 180.degree. C. in the presence or absence of an inert diluent is described.
