  • Publication number: 20010033099
Abstract: A motor vehicle roof with a roof opening in the fixed roof skin and with two successive adjustable covers for closing and partially clearing the roof opening. At least one of the covers is displaceable in the lengthwise direction of the motor vehicle into an open position and is swingable out of its closed position into a ventilator position by selectively lowering a front around the respective rear edge. The rear cover may be pushed out of its tilted ventilator position to under the closed front cover into an open position by being moved forward in its tilted position over most of its path of motion and then being lowered at its rear edge on the last section of the path of motion to essentially move completely under the front cover. Alternatively, the front cover can be moved rearward in its ventilator position to a point substantially overlying the rear cover in its ventilator position.

  • Patent number: 5476078
Abstract: A test routine for a throttle-valve displacement device is accomplished by use of a potentiometer (6) associated with a setting drive (3) and a potentiometer (5) associated with the throttle valve (1) to determine if the valve is operating properly. If it is found from a comparison of the potentiometer signals that the throttle valve (1) is connected to the gas pedal (2), then the setting drive is moved at specific time intervals at least once in closing direction and then back into the starting, position, and it is tested whether the throttle valve (1) follows the setting device. If so, then there is an erroneous indication of one of the two potentiometers and safety measures can be taken.

  • Patent number: 5263448
Abstract: A displacement device (1) for the actuation of a displacement member (4) of a control of an internal combustion engine is disclosed having an accelerator pedal (2) and a linkage (3) which forms a mechanical connection between pedal and adjustment member, the pedal (2) and the linkage (3) together forming a force-transmission path. In such a displacement device, the plausibility verification for the relationship between the position of the pedal (2) and the position of the adjustment member (4) is to be improved. For this purpose, a force sensor (8) is arranged within the force transmission path. A memory (15) stores relationships of force to displacement of the linkage. A signal processor 10 uses data of the memory to direct a motor (13) to correct a position of a throttle valve (12) to provide a desired amount of fuel to an engine in event of a failure of the linkage.

  • Patent number: 5036813
Abstract: A load-shifting device has a control element (8a, 8b) which acts on a setting member 9 which determines the output of an internal combustion engine. A control element cooperates with a driver (4) which is coupled to an accelerator (1). The driver is controllable in addition by means of an electrical setting drive 14 which cooperates with an electronic controller (17). In the load-shifting device, a setting path of the driver in idling direction is limited by an idling stop (LL). Upon application of the driver against the idling stop, the control element is movable in its idling control range relative to the driver by means of the electric setting drive. With a simple structural development the load-shifting device makes it possible to control the internal combustion engine over its entire load range and, in particular, by means of the electrical setting drive, over its idling range.

  • Patent number: 4853556
Abstract: In an electrical desired-value transmitter, particularly for an electronic gas pedal system, a return spring (5) as well as a force elastic jump spring (15) arranged parallel to it are provided. The desired-value transmitter has an electric path converter which gives off an electrical desired-value signal. In order to verify the proper operation of the return spring, a contact spring (9) of a first safety switch contact (10) acts on it in such a manner that the force of the return spring is transmitted to the contact spring. In the event that the return spring is broken, the safety switch contact assumes a position which is characteristic of this and gives off a corresponding signal which can reduce the output of the engine. The electric path converter may be a potentiometer.
