  • Patent number: 8722092
Abstract: The present invention provides novel nanoscale cellulose particles and also a process for their production. The cellulose-based particles obtained have volume-averaged particle sizes of less than 300 nm. These nanoparticles are produced from amorphous cellulose or by amorphization of cellulose, optional subsequent hydrolysis and by input of energy into a water-containing medium after or during dispersion.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 8, 2008
Date of Patent: May 13, 2014
    Assignee: Dow Global Technologies LLC
Inventors: Klaus Nachtkamp, Jürgen Engelhardt, Christa Krüger, Steffen Fischer, Manfred Pinnow, Kay Hettrich
  • Patent number: 8338494
Abstract: The present invention provides novel nanoscale cellulose particles and also a process for their production. The cellulose-based particles obtained have volume-averaged particle sizes of less than 300 run. These nanoparticles are produced from slightly oxidized cellulose and by input of energy into a water-containing medium after or during dispersion.

  • Patent number: 5982483
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and apparatus for determining spatial aor time intervals in the focused image or focused sequence of images of a lens-diaphragm system and/or of spatial, time-related object-parameters (10), spectral and/or local frequency-specific object parameters, in particular to control automatons and to monitor production sequences, focusing of the incident electromagnetic beams being implemented by the lens-diaphragm system (10), position-specific modulation of the direction of propagation, intensity, wavelength, polarization and/or of the time modulation frequency of the electromagnetic beams (11) being implemented by a 3D modulator (12) present behind the lens-diaphragm system (10) in or near the focal plane of the lens-diaphragm system (10), detection of the modulated electromagnetic beams being carried out by a detection system (13) located to the rear of the 3D modulator (12), and calculation of the spatial and/or time intervals (14) of the electromagnetic beams in the 3D modulato

  • Patent number: 5637370
Abstract: Information storage unit comprising a substrate with applied thereon a polymer layer (active polymer layer) which is polarisable by a focussed electron beam, the active polymer layer being a component of a multilayer, said multilayer comprising an active polymer layer of at least one to a maximum of fifteen electrically-insulating layers and at least one to a maximum of fifteen electrically conductive and/or semiconductive layers in an optional layer sequence, on condition that the active layer is disposed between at least one electrically-insulating layer and at least one conductive or semiconductive layer.

  • Patent number: 5623475
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and a corresponding device for inscribi reading, and erasing information from an information storage layer through use of an electrical field. The information storage layer includes a polarisable polymer film for an active layer. The dipoles are initially oriented in a unipolar manner. Inscription of the information is effected by the application of an opposing electrical field to the active layer. Readout of the different polarisation conditions is effected optically, the phase position of the emitted light of the optical second harmonic being detected by an interferometric process. The information on the storage layer may be deleted by an electrical polarisation process.
