  • Patent number: 5462388
Abstract: A vibrator for compacting construction materials has a housing having a housing mantle with a first end face and a cylindrical interior. The housing has an upper part for closing the housing at the first end face. The upper part is axially inserted into the housing mantle and secured in a closing position thereof against axial displacement. A radially inwardly extending support surface is connected within the housing mantle. An electric motor is drivingly connected to an unbalanced shaft. The electric motor has an inner rotor end an outer cylindrical stator pack end is inserted into the housing mantle from the first end face. The stator pack has a recess and is inserted into the housing mantle with sliding fit and secured against rotation. A spreading element made of spring steel for securing the stator pack is inserted into the housing mantle through the first end face and positioned on the stator pack before closing the housing to be clamped between the support surface and the upper housing part.

  • Patent number: 5385597
Abstract: The safety device for a drive unit of a vibration roller has a locking bar displaceable between a switch-off position and a locking position and is biased into its switch-off position. The drive unit is forcibly switched off when the locking bar is in its switch-off position. A switch lever is provided for manually operating the drive unit and can be coupled to a toothed rack with a coupling. The toothed rack is connected with a control cable to the drive unit and is biased into a position in which the drive unit is inoperative. A spring biases the coupling into a disengaged position in which the switch lever is disengaged from the toothed rack. The coupling is switchable from the disengaged position into an engaged position for operatively connecting the switch lever and the toothed rack and further into a locked engaged position.

  • Patent number: 5082396
Abstract: A vibratory roller is disclosed having a frame comprised of pivotally interconnected front and rear subframes. A motor is mounted on the frame and a steering mechanism is provided to articulate the subframe relative to each other. A roller drum carrier is mounted by a longitudinal centerline suspension system to support each of the subframes. Ground engaging roller drums are rotatably mounted on the roller drum carrier for rotation about an axle axis. An exciter mechanism for generating a vibratory compacting force is mounted in the roller drum carrier below the axis. Hydraulic drive units for rotating the roller drums are mounted in the roller drive carrier above the axis.

  • Patent number: 4962644
Abstract: The vibrating roll apparatus has a hydrostatic roll body drive drive. An internal-combustion engine drives a pump unit which includes an inclined disk pump of variable displacement and a filling pump. At least one hydraulic drive motor which is fed a pressurized medium by the inclined disk pump powers the hydrostatic roll body drive. An eccentric body in the roll body of the vibrating roll is driven by a mechanical power transmission device with a built-in clutch also powered by the internal-combustion engine. According to the invention the clutch is flanged to the pump unit and provided with a hydrostatically-operated clutch mechanism, which is connectable with the pressurized side of the filling pump by a clutch valve for engagement of the clutch. In this way a space-saving compact form for the drive for the eccentric body including means for its control with optimum conditions for clutch operation is attained.
