  • Patent number: 6663449
Abstract: The propeller drive is installed with its drive shaft inside a boat hull and its driven (propeller) shaft outside. The shafts are interconnected by a timing chain. The drive shaft position is adjustable to adjust the distance between it and the driven shaft, thus adjusting tension in the chain. The drive shaft is carried in two bearings installed in two bearing carriers. The carriers are adjustably mounted on a drive shaft casing and are structurally interconnected. The adjustments are made by mechanical adjustment of the position of the interconnecting structure relative to the casing.

  • Patent number: 6413127
Abstract: The drive transfers power from an engine driven drive shaft to a propeller shaft, through the hull (not the stern) of a boat. The power is transferred by a chain and sprockets which are fully enclosed and lubricated by oil inside the drive. The tension in the chain is adjustable without disassembling the drive. The propeller shaft is carried on bearings in the main housing of the drive which is made up of a top plate, a streamlined hollow strut and the propeller shaft pod. The drive shaft is carried in a sub housing made up of top and bottom halves. The chain is installed before the top half of the sub housing and the bearings for the drive shaft are installed. This method allows for the slack and clearance (sidewise from the chain) for connecting the ends of the chain together. When the drive is fully assembled, the gap between the main and sub housing is mechanically adjustable to adjust chain tension. A sealing system seals the variable width gap to retain the oil in the drive.

  • Patent number: 5310044
Abstract: The reciprocating floor conveyor of the present invention includes a supporting frame, a plurality of base members on the supporting frame, a plurality of elongate, slidable slats mounted on the base members, and a drive mechanism for causing longitudinal reciprocative movement of the plurality of slats. The plurality of slats are divided in at least a first and second interleaved groups. Each slat is connected to the slats adjacent thereto through slidable engagement of the sides of the slats, and are supported by the base members such that the first group of slats is elevated a greater distance from the supporting frame than the second group of slats. Each slat group includes a timing slat having a surface area greater than the surface area of each of the remaining slats in the group. The timing slat coordinates reciprocation of the slats within that group.
