Patent number: 6394924Abstract: A drive arrangement for a motor vehicle, having an internal combustion engine with a crankshaft which can be connected, via an interposed clutch, to a gearbox input shaft of a change-speed gearbox, and having an electric machine—for example an electric motor or a starter-generator—which is provided in the drive arrangement and which has a stator and a rotor. The electric machine, in order to step down its rotational speed, is operatively connected to the crankshaft and/or the gearbox input shaft via a step-down gear mechanism. The step-down gear mechanism is designed as an epicyclic gear mechanism, which has a sun gear, an internal gear and a number of planet gears. The epicyclic gear mechanism can be switched or clutch-operated via two clutches.Type: GrantFiled: September 29, 2000Date of Patent: May 28, 2002Assignee: Mannesmann Sachs AGInventors: Stefan Schiebold, Manfred Röder

Patent number: 6361469Abstract: A parking lock for a vehicle having an electrical drive train including an electric machine with a rotor, a stator having a plurality of stator windings, and power electronics for controlling the electric machine, and a transmission prevents the vehicle from rolling away inadvertently. The parking lock has a mechanical component which is mechanically operatively connected to the rotor when the parking lock is operated to stop rotation of this rotor. The mechanical component has a ratchet wheel and a toothed catch. Furthermore, the parking lock has an electrical component designed such that it produces a short-circuit in the stator windings, at least temporarily, when it is intended to operate the parking lock. When the parking lock is operated, the electrical component is thus activated in a specific time interval before operation of the mechanical component. The short-circuit in the stator windings produces a severe braking torque, which brakes the rotor.Type: GrantFiled: May 12, 2000Date of Patent: March 26, 2002Assignee: Mannesmann Sachs AGInventors: Manfred Röder, Horst Oppitz

Patent number: 5485417Abstract: The process according to the invention allows the adjustment of different damping characteristics of a motor vehicle damper taking into account the state of travel of the motor vehicle and damping requirement defining quantities depending on the travelling state according to an operating mode which can be preselected by the driver. The switch takes place as a function of a value of the total damping requirement determined from the instantaneous values of the damping requirement defining quantities according to a power function. The damping characteristic which is most desirable at each moment in time can be defined in real time. The process according to the invention can be used for various vehicles owing to adaptation of parameters which determine the power function.Type: GrantFiled: January 23, 1992Date of Patent: January 16, 1996Assignee: Fichtel & Sachs AGInventors: Fritz Wolf, Thomas Kutsche, Manfred Roder

Patent number: 5469928Abstract: Steering is actively assisted in a turning motor vehicle including a hybrid drive having both an internal combustion engine and a generator unit. The inner and outer wheels are each associated with an individual drive which is controlled in accordance with the steering angle of the steered wheels. Specifically, the torque differential is adjusted such that the percentage actual wheel differentials approach the percentage reference wheel speed differentials. A substantial reduction in the force which must be applied via the steering system to adjust the steering wheels, as compared to an absence of torque differential, is achieved because the outer wheel is driven at a higher output than the inner wheel when making a turn.Type: GrantFiled: June 20, 1994Date of Patent: November 28, 1995Assignee: Mannesmann AktiengesellschaftInventors: Uwe Adler, Hans-Jurgen Drexl, Dieter Lutz, Franz Nagler, Martin Ochs, Stefan Schiebold, Hans-Joachim Schmidt-Brucken, Wolfgang Thieler, Michael Wagner, Holger Westendorf, Rainer Wychnanek, Manfred Roder

Patent number: 5067599Abstract: For controlling a motor vehicle friction clutch (3) which is operated by an actuating drive (7) during parking maneuvers, an output adjusting device (19) of the internal combustion engine (1) is unaffected over a limited initial pedal travel (.alpha..sub.0) of the accelerator pedal (17). According to the pedal position at any given time, the actuating drive (7) of the clutch (3) is controlled within the initial pedal travel. According to the pedal position and in keeping with a predetermined first signal characteristic a desired torque signal is generated and the actuating drive (7) is positioned as a function of the desired torque signal and in keeping with a predetermined second signal characteristic. In the clutch position determined by the pedal position, an actual torque signal is generated which represents the torque of the internal combustion engine (1) and it is compared with the desired torque signal.Type: GrantFiled: July 2, 1990Date of Patent: November 26, 1991Assignee: Fichtel & Sachs AGInventors: Manfred Roder, Andreas Konrad

Patent number: 4505446Abstract: The present invention is directed to means for demountably securing the housing (3) of a container for presenting decorative items to a smooth surface irrespective of its inclination. A rubber suction cup (12) is operatively attached to the bottom of the container housing (3), and a pin (11) is secure to, and extends upwardly from, the central, distortable, portion of the cup (12). The pin (11) is axially translatable within a sleeve guide (4) mounted behind the cup (12) on the housing (3). At least one thrust rod (6) is translatable radially with respect to the pin (11) and slideably received within a pair of aligned slots (5 & 13) which penetrate the pin (11) and sleeve guide (4), respectively. The thrust rod (6) presents an obliquely inclined camming surface (9) which engages the slot (13) such that radial translation of the thrust rod (6) effects axial translation of the pin (11) to actuate the vacuum cup (12 ). The camming surface (9) does not interact with slot (13).Type: GrantFiled: June 8, 1983Date of Patent: March 19, 1985Assignee: Smithers-Oasis CompanyInventor: Manfred Roder

Patent number: 4445298Abstract: Base for the insertion of flowers, twigs, fruits and similar items, consisting of a mass of plastic foam, which base is reliably connected (attached) to a support of plastic, rubber, wood, metal or any other suitable material, said support being a trough-shaped tube into which has been inserted a base of plastic foam, which base will fit more or less neatly into the interior of the tube, and by an act of shrinking-on has become attached a plastic foil which encases all of the base (base plus support), and said foil preferably being provided with holes all over its surface.Type: GrantFiled: June 2, 1981Date of Patent: May 1, 1984Assignee: Smithers Oassis GmbH & Co.
