  • Patent number: 4278213
Abstract: A control arrangement for a roll carrier in which the speed control is continuously optimized by a computer taking into account the moment of inertia of the roll. The computer responds to an initial value of the moment of inertia which is determined during acceleration of a new roll and from the instantaneous radius of the winding, providing a signal for regulating the gain of a speed controller connected to the drive for a roll on the carrier.
