  • Publication number: 20050139645
Abstract: An easily openable package defining an interior product storage region, includes first, second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth side panels forming an eight-sided body. Each side panel is separate from adjacent side panels by respective crease lines. The side panels define an octagonal upper periphery. A bottom wall is formed from a plurality of panels separated from the side panels by a horizontal crease line. The bottom wall has a four-sided foot print, defining four bottom wall corners. An eight-sided polymeric lid is affixed to the package at the upper periphery. The lid has an openable portion such that the interior product storage region is accessed by opening the openable portion of the lid. A method for forming the package is also disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20040206052
Abstract: A form, fill and seal packaging machine bottom fills a carton. The machine includes a lid application station for applying a lid to the carton open top at an upper edge and means for removing the carton from the mandrel. The carton is positioned on a conveyor and is conveyed to a filling station disposed along the conveyor for filling product into the carton. After filling, the carton is indexed to a bottom flap folding station for folding the bottom flaps toward one another and a bottom fin sealing station for sealing a portion of the bottom wall flaps to one another to form an elongated fin. A bottom panel folding station folds the bottom panels toward one another to form a sealed bottom wall and a discharge station discharges the packages from the machine. A method for forming the carton and a carton formed by the method are also disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20040104861
Abstract: A deployable antenna reflector comprising a central dish and a plurality of deployable sheet-like panels arranged around the central dish. The reflector further comprises a central supporting body, whereon the central dish is fixedly mounted and whereto the deployable sheet-like panels are hinged. The rotation axes of the individual deployable sheet-like panels are tilted with respect to the center point of the central dish. In the stowed configuration of the reflector, the deployable sheet-like panels are at least partially deflected in order to minimize the envelope of the reflector and that the panels relax upon deployment.

  • Patent number: 6106263
Abstract: An extruder forms shaped bodies from plastics-filler mixtures having a filler content of more than 50% by volume. The extruder comprises a product feed device, an outer mouthpiece and two barrels arranged coaxially between the product feed device and the outer mouthpiece. The first barrel (input cone) having an inside wall provided with grooves essentially parallel to the longitudinal extent of the barrel is connected with the product feed device. The second barrel (output zone) is connected with the outer mouthpiece. A screw arranged in the first barrel conveys material into the second barrel. Separate tempering arrangements for the first barrel, for the second barrel and for the mouthpiece control the desired operation temperatures in the extruder. Preferably, the extruder additionally includes a mandrel connected with the screw and arranged in the second barrel.

  • Patent number: 5804116
Abstract: A method for the manufacture of shaped bodies by extrusion moulding of plastic-filler mixtures with filler contents of more than 50% by volume, preferably from 65 to 90% by volume, by means of an extruder with a conveying input zone. The method is restricted to use of fillers having good thermal conductivity. For carrying out the method, initially a mixture is manufactured from molten or fluid synthetic resin and the filler and this is ground and graded after cooling. Afterwards, there is extrusion of the ground mixture or of fractions separated from this and graded. According to a preferred variant of the method, an extruder is used for the extruding having a conveying input zone whose extrusion part consists merely of an input zone and an output zone.

  • Patent number: 5730916
Abstract: Process for manufacturing filler and distributing bodies essentially or carbon for process technology, in which ground cereal products are used as dry raw material and preferably water or aqueous synthetic resin preparations are used as binders. Dry material, preferably semolina, is mixed with the binder, the mixed composition is molded into primary product bodies and these are then hardened and subsequently coked or coked and graphitized. A typical use of the process involves the manufacture of small filler bodies of complicated shape.

  • Patent number: 4503092
Abstract: Pyrogenically produced silica after separation of the hydrogen halide is mixed with nitrogen and conveyed into a cyclone. After separation of the gases, which are returned into the cooling stretch of the production apparatus, the silica is first mixed with organohalosilane and nitrogen and subsequently with steam and nitrogen. Subsequently the hydrophobization reaction is carried out in known manner in a fluidized bed reactor. The reaction waste gases are returned into the cyclone.

  • Patent number: 4436298
Abstract: A sheet feeder comprises a support adapted to hold a stack of sheets, and a straight guide rail extending from the stack parallel to a transport direction and defining a transport path extending in this direction. A generally cylindrical sheet-lifting roller is provided above the support and is vertically engageable with the topmost sheet of the stack, this lifting roller being centered on and rotatable about an axis inclined to the transport direction and rail. This lifting roller can be rotated about the respective axis while in contact with the topmost sheet of the stack for displacing the topmost sheet in the transport direction and toward the rail. Feed rollers downstream of the lift roller are rotated to advance a sheet engaged thereby along the transport path in the transport direction.

  • Patent number: 4366191
Abstract: Increasing the strength and improving other properties of porous carbon or graphite bodies by immersing the porous body in a mixture containing 35-70% hardenable resin and 30 to 65% volatile solvent to impregnate pores. The impregnated porous body is heated to 120.degree. to 180.degree. C. to harden the resin. Carbonization of the body is effected by heating in an inert atmosphere at a rate of at least 3 K/hr to 800.degree.-1300.degree. C. Improved strength bodies are obtained with a single impregnation and single carbonizing step.

  • Patent number: 4152009
Abstract: A ski is equipped with a binding alternatively suitable for cross country skiing and downhill skiing. A base plate is normally secured to the top face of the ski runner and a detent projects rearward from the plate. The front end of a boot carrier is pivoted to the corresponding end of the base plate so that its rear end can swing toward and away from a downhill skiing position near the base plate. A latch engages two transversely spaced, longitudinal guides on the carrier for movement toward and away from a position of engagement with the detent in which the engaged latch and detent prevent the carrier from swinging upward from the downhill skiing position as is necessary in cross country skiing.
