Abstract: A preparation for the water-repellant impregnation of porous, mineral building materials on the basis of organosilicon compounds is disclosed. The preparation is an emulsion containing alkoxy groups and consist of an emulsion containinga) 5 to 45% by weight of an alkoxysilane of the general formulaR.sup.1 --Si--(OR.sup.2).sub.3whereinR.sup.1 is an alkyl group with 1 to 16 carbon atoms and R.sup.2 is an alkyl group with 1 to 4 carbon atoms,b) 45 to 5% by weight of a mixture consisting ofb1) a silane of the general formula R.sup.3 --Si--(OR.sup.2).sub.3, wherein R.sub.3 is an aminoalkyl group with 1 to 6 carbon atoms or a group of the general formulaH.sub.2 N--(CH.sub.2).sub.x R.sup.4 --(CH.sub.2).sub.y --,in whichR.sup.4 represents oxygen, sulfur, --NH-- or --NH--CH.sub.2 --CH.sub.2 --NH group and x.gtoreq.2 and y.gtoreq., or a group of the general formula (R.sup.2 O).sub.3 Si--(CH.sub.2).sub.x --NH--(CH.sub.2).sub.x --, in which R.sup.

Abstract: A method for making a finish-effect film which possesses pores in a predetermined design pattern by printing an absorbent water-swellable supporting web in a predetermined design pattern with a substance that retards penetration of water, coating the web with an aqueous resin preparation, and then curing the resin. Three-dimensional pores are produced in the web in a pattern corresponding to the predetermined design due to greater swelling of the unprinted areas of the web by impregnation of the water from the aqueous resin preparation as compared to the printed areas. The thus produced finish-effect film can be used for decorative purposes in a manner similar to wood veneers.
