  • Patent number: 4464060
Abstract: An electronic chess clock includes a generally rectangular casing atop which an elongate switching lever is mounted for pivotal movement about the center of the lever. A pair of electrochemical clockworks are contained in the casing for measuring and displaying time periods representing deliberation time of the chess players. A selected one of the two clockworks is actuated when the switching lever is pivoted downwardly at one end to actuate a microswitch associated with the selected clockwork. A common quartz-controlled time module provides time pulses to the selected one of the clockworks to insure that both of the clockworks operate at an equal rate. A manually actuable change-over switch coupled to the time module operates to allow the frequency of the time pulses to be selected so that the hand of the clockworks can indicate elapsed time on an expanded scale for greater accuracy in "short time" chess matches.

  • Patent number: 4333321
Abstract: In knitted goods, particularly pile-knit goods, with pile yarn tied into the loops and with weft elements extending at least over two-needle spacings, the pile-forming pile yarns are tied together only in every second course. This may be implemented by tying-in the pile yarns as loop jointly with the meshing yarn while weft yarns and dead piles are preferably tied as weft into the in-between courses. When tying the patterning piles as weft into every second course, dead pile and weft are also ties into these courses, while the in-between course will preferably consist only of the meshing warp yarn.

  • Patent number: 4266410
Abstract: A warp knitting machine has a row of needles, a row of warp thread guides for feeding to the needles warp threads which form the chain stitches of a ground fabric and a row of weft thread guides for feeding to the needles weft threads which form the inlay of the ground fabric. At least one row of pile thread guides is used to feed a respective pile thread to each needle. A row of pile-thread reserve-forming supports is provided, each support being individually shiftable, by a jacquard mechanism, from a reserve-forming position to a reserve-releasing position. The reserve-forming support, when in the reserve-forming position, forms a reserve length in a respective pile thread, by increasing the length of the path which the pile thread takes to a respective needle. Each and every pile thread is provided with such a reserve length in each and every course of the fabric. Each needle is provided with a clamp which clamps the pile thread to the needle.

  • Patent number: 4233824
Abstract: A double, jacquard-patterned piled fabric is produced on a modified warp-knitting machine having two needle-rows whose needles form needle-pairs. Each needle-pair receives a respective set of pile threads, differing ones of which are at different points in a pattern to become patterning pile threads visible in the fabric's pile pattern. When a given pile thread is to be non-patterning, it is tied into one of the two ground fabrics in the form of a walewise-running unlooped thread, and is not knitted into the ground fabric in the form of either half or full loops, in order to greatly reduce the rate of consumption of non-patterning pile thread. When a pile thread is to become a patterning pile thread, it is displaced into the zone intermediate the two needle rows and incorporated into alternate ones of the two ground fabrics in the form of half-loops.
