Publication number: 20170198818Abstract: A drain valve for a portable tank has a flange securable externally to a wall of the tank and formed with a hole centered on a flange axis perpendicular to a face of the flange. A housing extends from the flange and forms a housing flow passage extending along a passage axis opening into the tank at the hole of the flange and forming an angle of less than 90° with the flange axis. A ball valve element in the housing at the housing flow passage is movable between an open position permitting flow through the housing flow passage and a closed position blocking such flow. A shaft journaled in the housing is fixed to the ball valve element and extends along a shaft axis substantially perpendicular to the passage axis. An actuator connected to the shaft outside the housing is operable to pivot the ball valve element about the shaft axis between the open and closed positions.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 12, 2016Publication date: July 13, 2017Inventor: Manfred SETT

Publication number: 20090001670Abstract: A stuffing-box assembly has a shaft element having an outer surface centered on an axis and a housing element surrounding the shaft element and having an inner surface also generally centered on the axis. One of the elements is shiftable axially and rotatable about the axis relative to the other of the elements. The packing itself is formed by a resilient inner sleeve between the surfaces and having an inner surface engageable with the outer surface of the shaft element and an outer surface formed with a pair of frustoconical surfaces and a resilient outer sleeve between the surfaces and having an outer surface engageable with the inner surface of the housing element and an inner surface formed with a pair of axially offset frustoconical surfaces complementary to and engaging the frustoconical surfaces of the inner sleeve.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 25, 2008Publication date: January 1, 2009Inventors: Manfred SETT, Werner Heinze

Patent number: 6637456Abstract: The invention concerns a safety valve, in particular for low pressures and aggressive media, with an inlet which ends at the top in a valve seat upon which lies in a sealing manner a weight-loaded sealing body. A certain overpressure below the valve seat and/or a certain underpressure above the valve seat causes the sealing body to lift. At its upper end, the sealing body forms a shaft projecting vertically upward which is guided along or in a vertical part fixed immovably to the valve body. Fastened along or on top of the shaft are two or more weights, particularly detachable weights.Type: GrantFiled: November 27, 2001Date of Patent: October 28, 2003Assignee: ITT Manufacturing Enterprises, Inc.Inventor: Manfred Sett

Patent number: 6554576Abstract: A pump has a housing plate having a front face and a back face, a housing can fixed to the plate and defining a chamber on the back face thereof, a bearing sleeve in the can fixed to the plate and extending rearward from the back face thereof along an axis, and a rotor shaft extending axially through the sleeve and having a front end and a rear end. Bearings support the rotor shaft in the sleeve for rotation therein about the axis. The shaft has an outer surface spaced a predetermined inner radial distance from an inside surface of the bearing sleeve. An impeller is carried on the rotor-shaft front end in a pump chamber at the front face of the housing plate. A rotor body fixed to the shaft rear end extends axially forward in the can around the bearing sleeve. The rotor body has an outer surface spaced a predetermined outer radial distance from an inside surface of the can. The inner radial distance is substantially smaller than the outer radial distance.Type: GrantFiled: May 22, 2001Date of Patent: April 29, 2003Assignee: ITT Richter Chemie-Technik GmbHInventors: Ulrich Rennett, Manfred Sett, Alfred Mersch

Patent number: 6457951Abstract: A pump has a housing plate, a housing can fixed to the plate and defining a chamber on a back face thereof, a bearing sleeve in the can fixed to the plate and extending rearward from the back face along an axis, and a rotor shaft extending axially through the sleeve. Bearings support the rotor shaft in the sleeve and an impeller is carried on the rotor-shaft front end. A rotor body fixed to the shaft rear end extends axially forward in the can around the bearing sleeve. The rotor body defines an annular space around the bearing sleeve and is formed with at least one axially throughgoing passage open axially forward into the space and axially rearward into the can. A vane in the passage is angled for pumping liquid from inside the can axially forward into the space on rotation of the rotor about the axis.Type: GrantFiled: May 21, 2001Date of Patent: October 1, 2002Assignee: ITT Richter Chemie-Technik GmbHInventors: Ulrich Rennett, Manfred Sett, Alfred Mersch
