  • Patent number: 5607263
Abstract: A cutting tool having a cutting plate with at least one blade and a central axial hole through which a head screw can be used to connect the cutting plate to a holder having an axial bore through its center for receiving the screw and a recess around the bore for receiving a complimentary projection located around the central hole of the cutting plate which is longer than the recess is deep. Alternate embodiments are provided in which the projection is located on the holder and the recess in the face of the cutting plate. In all embodiments, the recess and projection have contacting surfaces which substantially eliminate axial forces on the head screw.

  • Patent number: 5244942
Abstract: The invention concerns a homogenous, in particular multicolored plastic sheet or panel, based on ethylene vinyl acetate copolymer (EVA) as binder with a filler content of 30 to 80 wt. % and a process for producing it. In other embodiments the binder contains, in addition to the 70 to 85 wt. % of EVA, polypropylenes to improve the processability (tendency to adhere), EPDM to improve the flexibility, and polyethylenes to reduce the tendency to soiling. In the process described, several additives, each consisting of a binder containing at least some ethylene vinyl acetate copolymer, up to 80 wt. % of fillers and up to 5 wt. % of pigments, are mixed, plasticized and granulated or comminuted to form granules or chips of assorted colours which are mixed and, possibly after other processing operations, pressed to form the plastic web or plates.

  • Patent number: 5179149
Abstract: A process for manufacturing nonwoven materials such as floor or wall coverings from natural or synthetic oils and natural or synthetic elastomers is carried out in two reaction phases. In the first reaction phase, a mixture of a stand oil or an equivalent synthetic polymer oil is homogenized with fillers and partially polymerized and partially crosslinked at high temperature to form an intermediate product I. The ground intermediate product I is then homogenized with a natural or synthetic elastomer, in particular natural rubber, fillers and a peroxide and crosslinked and polymerized at a high temperature. The process is suitable for manufacturing homogeneous and possibly marbled floor coverings based on natural materials and processing outstanding physical and optical properties.

  • Patent number: 4923658
Abstract: A process for the production of homogeneous flat articles of thermoplastic synthetic resins wherein a starting mixture based on thermoplastic synthetic resins is processed into agglomerate or granulated material by a thermal pretreatment above the softening temperature and subsequently, optionally after additional intermediate steps, is mechanically comminuted to a mixture of particles having a random grain size distribution. The mixture of particles is piled continuously onto a conveyor belt to form a uniform layer and is sintered, under the action of heat up to the plasticization of the thermoplastic synthetic resin, into a coherent flat articles and is then press-molded under the effect of pressure and heat.

  • Patent number: 4520063
Abstract: A forgery-proof flat article, for example, for the production of banking cards, credit cards, and the like, is provided with a security feature analogous to a watermark and is made of thermoplastic and elastomeric synthetic resins based on transparent, translucent, or colored sheets made by extrusion, calendering, blow-molding, or spread coating, or composite sheets therefrom, with an application of a colorant, capable of migrating, to the surface in the presence of a crosslinkable component in the flat article and/or in the colorant application. The colorant application, upon reaching the desired migration depth of the applied colorant, is fixed in the flat article by a crosslinking reaction.

  • Patent number: 4443392
Abstract: A process for the production of decorated molded articles wherein a base article is produced by casting and/or compression molding from a hardenable substance containing a minor amount of a thermosetting synthetic resin and a hardener therefor, and a major amount of at least one inert filler, and, optionally, accelerators, colorants and other auxiliary materials and by providing the article with a surface layer of hardenable lacquer resin.

  • Patent number: 4297099
Abstract: A process for producing colored synthetic resin sheet material having a unicolored or multicolored dye coating applied to one surface thereof and extending into said surface in a uniform manner involves applying a dye-containing material or composition to at least one selective portion of the surface of a synthetic resin sheet material that contains at least one reactive, crosslinkable component, where the dye-containing material is capable of migrating into a non-porous sheet formed of the synthetic resin; controlling the migration of the dye material into the sheet material to a desired depth; and then initiating crosslinking of the crosslinkable component to stop further migration of the dye-containing material.
