  • Patent number: 11976728
Abstract: The invention relates to a sealing device of a system for sealing a fluid passage from a first component (1) to a second component (2), comprising at least one first sealing element (3) which is of an annular design to allow fluid to pass through it, includes at least one expansion slot (4) and has a first sealing surface (5) sealingly associated with the first component (1) and has a second sealing surface (8) sealingly associated with the second component (2), said at least one first sealing element (3) being flexible and said expansion slot (4) being designed in such a way that radial and resultant axial pressure of the fluid passing through there will cause the first sealing element (3) to expand in the radial direction and thus press radially in the direction against the first component (1), with said first sealing surface (5) with the expansion slot (4) being sealed against the first component (1) by abutment in the direction of the latter, and in such a way that the first sealing element (3) will press

  • Patent number: 5271685
Abstract: A connection assembly having a rod, a joint member with a threaded bore therein, a tapered end piece with a recessed axial through-hole therein, and a set screw received in the through-hole and having a threaded screw end which extends out from one end of the end piece and is threadably received in the threaded bore of the joint member. The end piece has a plurality of end piece bores concentrically arranged around the through-hole and extending substantially parallel thereto. A connection board is secured to an end of the rod and includes a plurality of board bores therein which correspond to the end piece bores. Screws extend through the corresponding end piece bores and board bores to connect the board to the end piece, thereby securely connecting the rod to the joint member.

  • Patent number: 4687043
Abstract: In a composite casting process for making aluminum alloy components for internal combustion engines, which components are provided at highly loaded surfaces with shaped elements which consist of fibers or whiskers and are bonded to the castings, the shaped elements consisting of fibers of whiskers are infiltrated with an aluminum alloy which has a higher melting point than the aluminum alloy of the casting. The infiltration is effected in such a manner that the infiltrated aluminum alloy forms a cover layer on the shaped element. In order to ensure the formation of a bond between the casting and the shaped element as the aluminum alloy for making the casting is cast in contact with the shaped element, the infiltrated shaped elements are dipped into a molten solder alloy before the aluminum alloy for making the casting is cast in contact with the shaped element, and the latter is subsequently placed into the heated mold for making the casting, whereafter the casting is made.

  • Patent number: 4591288
Abstract: A joint connection for space frameworks made of rods and joint members wherein the joint members have concentric threaded bores for receiving threaded bolts for the connection of the rods with the joint members. The required torque is applied by means of screwing tools through non-rotatable but axially slidable drive sleeves on the threaded bolts. The drive sleeves inserted between the rod ends and joint members are also used to bias the threaded bolts so strongly that the bias force is greater than the charges from the outside which have a dynamic effect, in order to avoid the danger of fatigue fractures. For this purpose, each drive sleeve may be formed of three parts which, on the basis of cooperating helical surfaces with suitable relative rotation of the middle part relative to both outside parts, are axially adjustable in opposite directions to axially bias the threaded bolt to lengthen it and therewith to axially bias it.

  • Patent number: 3991811
Abstract: A light alloy piston having an annular cooling passage in its head portion is prepared by a process wherein a permanent mold, preferably having a steel shell and a water cooled bottom, is filled with the molten piston alloy. Thereafter, core elements, particularly a salt core for forming the cooling passage are introduced into the molten material by means of a holder and the permanent mold is held at an elevated temperature by external heating. The permanent mold is then lowered into a water bath for a given period of time. The soluble core, which has a specific gravity lower than that of the molten light alloy, is forced into the molten material to the desired position and depth using a holding device. The holding device is withdrawn from the remaining molten material when the solidification of the molten material has proceeded to the underside of the core.
