Abstract: A runner for a hydraulic turbine or pump has a plurality of blades. Each of the blades is defined by a pressure surface, an oppositely facing suction surface, a leading edge and a spaced-apart trailing edge. At least one of the blades has a device for supplying a flow of oxygen containing gas to the trailing edge of the same blade. The device includes at least two separate gas inlet apertures and at least two separate gas passages, each extending from one of the separate gas inlet apertures to a separate group of orifices in the trailing edge of the same blade. Each of the separate group of orifices has at least one orifice to admit gas out of the corresponding separate gas passage to the passing fluid during the operation of the runner.

  • Patent number: 9677535
Abstract: There is provided a method of operating a pump turbine plant including a turbine with a turbine impeller and a turbine spiral casing having a first pressure pipe, and a pump with a pump impeller and a pump spiral casing having a second pressure pipe; an electrical machine dynamically in a drive connection with a shaft, the pump turbine plant further including a hydraulic short-circuit that can be created between the turbine and the pump, wherein the turbine has a greater rated power than the pump, and wherein the turbine and the pump operate under partial load at least temporarily in the hydraulic short-circuit. The method further includes operating the turbine or the pump in the hydraulic short-circuit when a degree of efficiency of the pump and of the turbine in the hydraulic short-circuit is greater than a degree of efficiency of the turbine on its own.

  • Publication number: 20140205428
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for primary adjustment of a hydroelectric power plant comprising a dual adjustment turbine, at least one first actuator, and at least one second actuator, wherein the first and second actuators are reset depending upon an actual value of a network frequency of an electrical network which receives the generated electrical power for influencing the turbine output in order to achieve a target value of the network frequency. The invention is characterised in that the first actuators are only operated in predefined actuating steps, and then an adjustment to the target value of the network frequency is performed by resetting the second actuators.
