Abstract: A composite material and method of making and using the same is described. In particular a dental (and preferably photocurable) composite material, and the use of a composite material according to the invention as a dental material and a method for preparation of a composite material according to the invention. Also disclosed are novel radically polymerizable monomers comprising at least one polyalicyclic structure element and certain ethylenic structure elements, which are particularly suitable for use in a composite material according to the invention.

Abstract: A curable dental composition comprising a monomer with a polyalicyclic structure element that can be used for filling and/or sealing of a root canal is described. Also described is a composition useful as a dental material and a method for preparing such a composition. New polymerizable monomers comprising at least one polyalicyclic structure element and certain ethylenic structure elements, which are particularly suitable for use in a dental composition, and the use of the new monomers in a dental composition are also described.

Abstract: The invention relates to an interdental wedge for use with a matrix band when preparing a filling on a tooth to be restored and/or for use with a rubber dam, by inserting the interdental wedge into an area near the gingiva between the tooth to be restored or to be treated and an adjacent tooth, with an insertion area having a cross section delimited by a lower face, by an inner face and by an outer face, wherein, in the state inserted near the gingiva, the lower face is directed towards the gum, the inner face is directed towards the tooth to be restored or to be treated, and the outer face is directed towards the adjacent tooth, wherein the inner face and the lower face run together in an edge, which is designed such that, in the state inserted near the gingiva, it bears on the tooth to be restored or to be treated, in order to provide a sealing action against passage of material.

Abstract: A composition for obtaining dental impressions and methods of using and making the same are disclosed. The compositions can include curable base compositions and surfactant systems. The surfactant system can include (i) 0.5 to 3 wt-% of a first surfactant comprising end-capped polyoxyethylene alkyl ether, end-capped polyoxypropylene alkyl ether, end-capped polyoxyethylene-polyoxypropylene alkyl ether or mixtures thereof, (ii) 0.5 to 3 wt-% of a second surfactant, selected from the group of non-ionic fluorosurfactants, (iii) 0 to 3 wt-% of a third surfactant, selected from the group of silicone surfactants, wherein the total quantity of first, second and third surfactant is from 1.5 to 6 wt-%. The mass ratio of the first surfactant to the second surfactant can be 1.4 or less when the content of the third surfactant is less than 0.5 wt-% and the total quantity of first and second surfactant is 2 wt-% or less.

Abstract: A dual-curing, multi-component dental composition is described. The dental composition can include: (a) one or more photopolymerizable monomers selected from the group consisting of acrylates and methacrylates; (b) one or more photoinitiators, selected from the group consisting of alpha-diketones, benzoin alkyl ethers, thioxanthones, benzophenones, acylphosphinoxides, acetophenones, ketals, titanocenes, borates and sensitizing colorants; (c) one or more molecular weight regulators selected from the group consisting of compounds which can be converted with a radical of a monomer of component (a), wherein the conversion takes place by abstraction of an H-radical from the molecular weight regulator in the allyl position; (d) one or more polymerization inhibitors for increasing the storage stability of the composition; (e) one or more inorganic fillers; (f) one or more initiators for a chemical curing at ambient temperature, and if necessary one or more further additives.

A piston is located in the capsule body and in the mixing chamber to be axially displaceable for expelling mixed dental cement through the opening region. An exit opening is located at the dispensing end of the capsule body and in the opening region. A closure cap is designed and arranged to cover the opening region. A clamping device is designed and arranged to rotatably connect the closure cap to the capsule body in the opening region to be in opposite fluid-sealing relationship. An unbent application cannula is fixedly mounted to the closure cap at an angle of approximately 10° to 80° with respect to the longitudinal axis of the capsule body.
