Abstract: A photopolymerizable dental composition for application to and for the isolation and protection of gums and/or teeth during dental treatment is described. The composition can include (a) one or more photopolymerizable monomers selected from the group consisting of acrylates and methacrylates, (b) one or more photoinitiators, preferably selected from the group consisting of alpha-diketones, benzoin alkyl ethers, thioxanthones, benzophenones, acyl phosphine oxides, acetophenones, ketals, titanocenes, borates and sensitizing dyes, and (c) one or more molecular weight regulators selected from the group consisting of compounds which can be reacted with a radical of a monomer of component (a) with abstraction of an H radical from the molecular weight regulator in the allyl position. Also disclosed are kits comprising such a composition, methods for producing a corresponding protective layer, methods for treating one or more teeth, and methods of using the compositions as a masking compound.

Abstract: A transparent lacquer composition that can be used as a protective and gloss lacquer for surface coating is described. The lacquer composition can be a dental material and a method for preparing a lacquer composition is also described. Also described are novel polymerizable monomers comprising at least one polyalicyclic structure element and certain ethylenic structure elements that are particularly suitable for use in a lacquer composition.

Abstract: A composite material and method of making and using the same is described. In particular a dental (and preferably photocurable) composite material, and the use of a composite material according to the invention as a dental material and a method for preparation of a composite material according to the invention. Also disclosed are novel radically polymerizable monomers comprising at least one polyalicyclic structure element and certain ethylenic structure elements, which are particularly suitable for use in a composite material according to the invention.

Abstract: A curable dental composition comprising a monomer with a polyalicyclic structure element that can be used for filling and/or sealing of a root canal is described. Also described is a composition useful as a dental material and a method for preparing such a composition. Abstract: Novel polymerizable compounds comprising a polyalicyclic structure element and certain functional groups, mixtures comprising one or a plurality of these compounds and corresponding curable blends and products as well as their respective use as dental material or for the preparation of a dental material are described. Abstract: A composition for obtaining dental impressions and methods of using and making the same are disclosed. The compositions can include curable base compositions and surfactant systems. The surfactant system can include (i) 0.5 to 3 wt-% of a first surfactant comprising end-capped polyoxyethylene alkyl ether, end-capped polyoxypropylene alkyl ether, end-capped polyoxyethylene-polyoxypropylene alkyl ether or mixtures thereof, (ii) 0.5 to 3 wt-% of a second surfactant, selected from the group of non-ionic fluorosurfactants, (iii) 0 to 3 wt-% of a third surfactant, selected from the group of silicone surfactants, wherein the total quantity of first, second and third surfactant is from 1.5 to 6 wt-%. The mass ratio of the first surfactant to the second surfactant can be 1.4 or less when the content of the third surfactant is less than 0.5 wt-% and the total quantity of first and second surfactant is 2 wt-% or less.
